capitol one cup

could someone please explain why we arranged a friendly game for saturday 11th august 2012 when we could of played our capital one cup game against northampton town on that day .....like other clubs did :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Yeah read something similair earlier, if we had the chance why not,
But as someone posted was it to do with Bellamy, the open evening and the sale of red shirts?mmmmmmm

Disappointing if we did have the chance to change it to last Saturday though :o

I posted exactly the same question the other day.

Seems nobody knows who was responsible. Initially I thought it may have been the club who decided they'd rather play Newcastle as I suppose it generates more money than a tie against Northampton. However, Malky sounded really unhappy in the his pre-match interview yesterday regarding the fixture order which makes me think this was impossed on us by the competition organisers and not the club.

Much better to have the friendly.. we didn't have any at home so it was good. :ayatollah:

It was nice to play a big club like Newcastle, especially nice to get such a great result and performance. It probably would've made more sense though playing Northampton on Saturday to give our players a couple of extra day's rest before Huddersfield (would've defo enabled us to play a stronger team also).
