The likes of Hudson, Whittingham etc..?
I just would have thought it would have been a good 'competitive' run out for them. Even if it was for 45 mins or so.

Some of them are carrying knocks, and it was the very young defence Apart from Keinon that could not cope, would you rather risk these players and have them crocked for our game friday?

I thought playing a competitive game would have been better for the players than meaningless friendlies against any club.

Because we have a much more important game on Friday and Malky was never going to risk key players ( especially defenders) so close to that. Did the right thing in my view.

I wonder if Helguson or Conway will start on friday then

Are you for real, these two players you named were not carrying knocks, so of course they may play friday!
Wed Aug 15, 2012 8:37 am
I was surprised that Helguson played actually. Though we do have some cover for him in Velikonja and I suppose Malky thought that he needed the sort of experience up front that Keinan , Macphail and Conway were meant to provide in defence and midfield. We have decent cover for Conway I think, should he get injured.

I trust Malky's decision making skills and from past experience he knows his stuff. Imagine if we'd played more first team players last night and then either a couple got injured or our players weren't 100% for Friday? It's a no brainer in my opinion. Just look at the sides that Championship clubs were fielding and they're playing on the Saturday!

BUT my understanding is that we now have a bigger stronger squad to cope with injuries

Why risk any injuries at all for a mickey mouse cup?
Wed Aug 15, 2012 8:59 am
I think MM wanted out of this cup..

He gambled early on last year and got away with it , never worked this year !!!!!
I think we have greater aspirations this season.

Stupid schedule end of.
Weve got bigger fish to fry this year. Starting Friday.
You got laught tho. You claim all last season Keinans the best centre half at the club, always slagging off Hudson then Keinan geys a game and your asking why Malky didnt use Hudson.

What a whopper.

NO!
Friendlies are purely to get match-fitness and help players gel together. Low key, no
crazy tackles going in.
Northampton were really up for that last night. Last think Malky wanted was some
hot-headed youngster going over the top on Peter Whittingham
Thats why

I have in fact been Keinan's biggest fan on here by a mile
