A forum for all things Cardiff City

Season ticket sales have been on the up lately and as of today we have approximately 17,950 including premier seats, included in this figure is a total of 1,500 new season ticket holders.
Another bright spot for the club is that they had record sales for an opening weekend on shirt sales, not only that but club officials tell me that it is not just the red shirts that selling well but fans are buying all things red from the superstore, I know this news may sadden some City supporters but this is the truth of the situation, fans are backing the colour change based on the first few days of sales.
The Huddersfield game, when the fixtures were first released, was considered to be a police-free game but due to the fixture being moved to the Friday evening which allows more drinking time for supporters and the issue of the re-branding, the police feel there is a need to have a presence on the night.
The club expect there to be a crowd of around 22,000 judging by current sales, the expected walk up and the near on 700 Huddersfield fans attending.
City are hopeful to still bring a couple of signings in before the game on Friday but one name I can quash is that of Michael Owen, he has not been training with City, he has not had a medical and Cardiff have not made any moves to try and sign him.

Glad we're not in for Owen. Goes to show how far the club has come on but I don't think we need him.

Excellent news on the season ticket front- when does the deadline end for season ticket sales?

Club officials are bound to say sales of the 'red' shirts are going well. They are fighting hard for the rebrand. For children I am sure the colour of the shirt makes no difference. However I will be suprised if the sales of adult shirts beats last years figures although we only have the clubs word for it.

Thats bad news.

Probably because the sales of the red shirts are going well
It was evident last Friday that lots more people than expected have bought into the rebranding.

Great news about the season ticket sales

Saddens and disappoints me with the news about the red shirts. I went to the re opening and there were much more shirts than I expected
Tue Aug 14, 2012 9:26 pm
So Sunday night we were close, Monday night we were 90%
And tonight we are still hopeful....
CARL YOUR FIRED!!!!'
LAKEY WHERE ARE YOU?
Tue Aug 14, 2012 9:37 pm
Wasn't planning to buy a red shirt......but as everybody else is....i think i might just get one......
Move on and move upwards..we are ONE......
Tue Aug 14, 2012 9:51 pm
I'm sticking to my principles and not going anywhere near the red shite.
But 22,000 is a pretty small crowd considering it's the first game of the season and we've signed Bellers. If we were still blue IMO we would be expecting about 24,000
Tue Aug 14, 2012 9:53 pm
Friday nights shirt sales i dont beleive will be a true reflection of shirt sales and how they are going to go as there alot of variable and unique circumstances which would have influenced the amount sold friday night!........
Such as:
Masssive PR stunt on day of release with the #ilovethecity gig
ONLY red shirt were available for sale
The day bellamy is unveiled and the build up leading up to it
Re-opening of the stadium in the name of "Cardiff city football club"
When have we ever had such a series of events to promote the release of the new seasons shirt?
So basically the #ilovethecity gig with FREE tickets pulled 6000 people onto the citys ground and into the club shop the day only the red shirt goes on sale..............Not rocket science that alot would get sold that day is it
btw im not anti anyone who purchased red its there call but i personally dont like it but if my kids start pestering me for it maybe ill have to swallow my pride and let them choose for themselves but as it stands there happy to wait for the blue

Jack, I am with u all the way on this, I will never buy any of this rebrand stuff, I don't care if we are the minority, I am Blue no matter what and will never ever be swayed.
I am also surprised that the crowd will be that low due to our so called huge investment/debt.
No seriously with Bells back, I expected a near sell out.

Every red shirt and mug sold is more money going into the club, so its fine with me. Hope the blue away shirts fly off the shelf aswell

I thought the days of the paying customer helping the club were gone?
I will never buy anything from the club shop, and im gutted to hear that so many are being sold if true. But having worked in promotions I know that it could all be a bit of a lie.

Thanks Carl, what can you do but to get behind the lads and Malky. At the end of the day its not their fault and they'll still run their hearts out for us.

Can't believe people are actually buying the red shirt, but everyone's got their own opinions. I will be buying the blue away shirt. Blue forever.

Friday night games on sky are always low.
People going away for the weekend or heading on a night out in town is easily mixed with a game on sky.
I'd hope around 23 still though

Spot on, it would have been more of a suprise if they didn't break sales records with those events leading up to the shirt launch.
On the positive side of things, at least the clubs marketing appears to be getting better. It's been dreadful for years.

I think if this was a Saturday 3pm game and not live on TV this match would be close to a near sell out.
Instead its a Friday night game, live on sky and we also have the trainlines f**ked up between Cardiff Central and Cardiff Queen Street for travelling home fans.

If everyne else is buying/embracing the red I may as well get one too.

Did we ever find out how many people went ahead and got a refund on season tickets?

Will be good to see when /if we do bring any players this week. But i do wonder if they will be chucked straight into the squad because of the internationals??

The shirt sales Carl for me is just cringe worthy .I saw photos of the newcastle game with us in red at home and I have to say it wasnt right .I just cant get with the red kit or the badge its not the same anymore for me.
I think when i do go to my first game
I will cringe at it so much that I wont be able to go watch us anymore.Trouble is I bought 3 season tickets for me and my children so i have to give it a go .
To me this is just not ccfc any more I dont no what it is and I dont understand that if you passionately support the city like i have for over 30 years then how do you except all this and just roll over.I have tried to except it but I just cant.
I have supported my club with my whole heart and soul for many years through the good times and the many bad times. To do what they have done to is an insult to my long support from childhood. It to me is like they have taken an important part of ccfc away and skipped it and whats more upsetting than that is a lot of are fans just went with it.For years I thought are fans were one of the most passionate in britain so why the hell didnt we all stand up to all this and say NO.
If the club shop sell loads of kits and the team get promotion then I hope you all enjoy it but a massive part of me will always be gutted to the core and I now no I can never change the way I feel.
I will never buy anything red or blue with that badge on it and feel deeply offended hurt and angry what this Malaysian idiot has done and my only hope is some day he goes and we change it all back and that day cant come soon enough for me.
