If we are to remain Red and Black

Tue Aug 14, 2012 1:19 pm

which until we sell the club weve got to be realistic, we are, then who would prefer to play in Milan style stripes?

I cant stand this current red kit and badge but no point banging on about KCB because its not going to happen whilst VT is in charge.

Maybe if we get to the Prem we should lobby for next season to not only get the badge changed but change us to stripes instead.

Theres already some established teams in the Prem who play in red, but no-one in red and black stripes. We will look classy in Milan stripes.

Whos with me?

Not a bad idea, a bluebird on the badge would certainly go better on red & blue stripes.

Although if VT is a superstitous man as we are led to believe Milan are far more succesful than Palarse.

I'd be a lot happier if we were in blue and red stripes. I'd actually buy the home shirt if that was the case, as I'm never buying a red shirt.

Red and blue stripes would be much better. I may even contemplate buying a shirt then!

The mock up fusion kit somebody produced and posted here wasn't bad and I would push for that as a compromise.

Best idea you've had in ages!

Would still MUCH prefer to play in blue obviously, and it would still hurt me to play in anything but blue, but red and black stripes would be alot better than playing in plain red, yes. :ayatollah:

i'd much prefer a red/black strips milan type kit to what we have now.

Don't like the idea of red and blue stripes, but the Milan kit is quality. Something along those lines would be good if that is how it is to be regarding our colours. Maybe styled on the old 70's kit - red shirt with a single black and white stripe down the side. That would look OK I think.

f**k me everyone, have a listen to yourselves, I think we all agree we should be in blue and here is everyone talking like the owners of our club and changing the colour of our kit! Everyone need to get a grip of things and start campaigning, either this year like some of us say or next year like most of us say. Talk about our owners selling us out, we are helping them to go the next stage and change our name like they envisage is the next stage. It's about time you stopped this stupid talk and get to grips and analyse where these owners are taking us or we will have nothing left. :(

I'm all for this kit. I've posted it before and I will probably post it again on relevant threads, but this design is the bollocks, red like they wanted, a dragon like they wanted and more importantly BLUE like EVERY city fan wants.

FL rules state that clubs cannot change name.

No chance. Does not give the opportunity to have a 2nd kit of red OR blue as it already has both colours in it.

I don't like that design personally. Of all the ones that were mocked up the one that was blue with the red and white sleeves was my favourite.

Polo makes the point that while VT is in charge it ain't going to change and he's probably right. Therefore, why shouldn't people discuss alternative red kits without being accused of being sell outs. We may not like it, but this is the reality. They are not allowed to change the name so please stop scaremongering about what the next stage is. Do you have hard evidence about what the plans are because if you do, please share them with us ordinary supporters who are trying to take things at face value. I'm all for us staying in blue, but to be honest I'm getting sick of the negativity surrounding the club by a core who seem intent on continuing to destabilise the club especially after they have just funded the best squad we have had in in many years. Maybe you didn't attend the game on Saturday, but that was a demolition job on a top premiership sides first choice defence and a joy to watch - please try giving them some credit.

Re: If we are to remain Red and Black

Negativity? Funding a Squad?

Maybe we will will start being convinced this is worth it when they wipe out the debt. At the mo a;l they are doing is continuing to spend money we dont have and making the debt bigger. Cant you seee that?

And where would be if they hadn't paid off HMRC and other creditors. If they don't convert the debt to equity then its liquidation which is exactly where we were heading until they came along. Can't sem them investing all of this time and money to see us wound up somehow. I'm not saying its an I'm right and your wrong scenario, but I'm trying to keep an open mind until proved otherwise.

Re: If we are to remain Red and Black

Yep - you hit the nail on the head. Thats where kcb and others differ the most. Personally Im not convinced we would by now be in liquidation had VT not invested. Its a justifictaion touted around with no proof or evidence. Id rather take my chnaces in blue but as you say, I do understand (but not agree with) the red acceptance mob

To me the evidence is solid - HMRC have left us alone since VT came along. I'm certainly not in the red acceptance mob - I won't buy the shirt but I won't buy the blue either this season as I don't like the design. I will however continue to support the team and hope that VT keeps his word regarding the debt. Only time will tell, but I suspect its not as black and white between the Malaysians and Langstone as people are trying to make out on here.

Re: If we are to remain Red and Black

Tue Aug 14, 2012 8:21 pm

See where youre coming from and god knows wots happening with Langstone. I suspect VT will continue to use the lack of settlement for his own ends. whatever they may be. I dont trust him one bit - hes already proved he isnt a man of his word.

I used the term red acceptance rather than pro red in the sense that i dont think there are many of the latter but a lot of people in the "dont like it but accept its here" camp for whatever reason.

Well if nothing else -I hope that we've showed that you can have a reasonable debate about the whole rebranding thing without resortiung to name calling and other unpleasantness. There is without doubt cause for reservation about how VT has handled things but I think to say he's not a man of his word is a bit harsh at this stage. Yes, there has been a U turn regarding the home kit/badge, but I prefer to wait and see what happens regarding the financial side of things before judging his true intentions.
