Clint Hill

That's my prediction, seems to fit the criteria/description of the mystery defender Carl hinted at in his update. He's a versitile defender who could play LB or CB. I would expect him to be available for a fairly low fee given he is third choice LB at QPR behind Fabio da Silva and Armand Traore. As Carl said this player wouldn't exactly get straight in the team but could establish himself if/when given the chance - that would be a fair assessment of Hill if he signed as there is very little difference between himself and Taylor (Hill is probably defensively better buy Taylor is certainly superior going forward).

Just a prediction but it seems both viable and realistic.

Im pretty sure he was due out of contract this summer, but recently signed a 1 year extension??

Therefore, I highly doubt QPR will be looking to let him go at the moment.

I thought that but they since signed da Silva so they may now be willing to negotiate.

He's decent, I would be pleased with him he was one of Warnock's favourite players...

At the end of the 2011-12 season QPR survived on the final day of the season despite a 3-2 defeat to Manchester City. Hill was awarded both the fans and players player of the season awards for his outstanding performances for Rangers in the 2011-12 season. [19] Hill's contract was due to expire in the summer of 2012 however Hill was keen to stay at Loftus Road.[20] In May 2012, Hill was offered a new contract by QPR.[21] On 19 June 2012 Clint signed a new one-year contract extension at the club till 2013.

The fact he signed a new contract means nothing, at the time of the contract being renewed QPR only had one other LB (Traore). They've since brought in Da Silva on loan, leaving Hill more than likely to end up being 3rd choice LB.

I see today also that we've been linked with Taylor of Watford, similar situation again he only signed a new one year deal a month or so ago.

Contract's mean shit, Helguson was under contract and we got him for pretty much nothing.
