i coached football and entered many junior tournaments,but no winner was allowed,had to be none competitive,schools are told to teach its about taking part not winning,yet the same schools award grade in maths tests etc...if you are good at sport it should be promoted as a quality.....

Stupid libral ideals.....I do believe that the underlying principle should be the taking part,
but at the end of the day it's about winning and losing and how do deal with that.

agreed,but in the class room the whole emphasis its all about results,no teacher every said to me after a maths exam"never mind you only got a D....its about taking part"....

Why not accommodate for both? Competitive for those that like the thrill of a battle and non-competitive for those that just love being involved.

PARENTS....thats why....i coached football for 5 years and have just stood down...the biggest problem you have is trying to explain to a parent that little johnny is either good enough or competitive enough....when said parent see their child as the next beckham...your idea is the best option if only pushy parents can except this...by trying to devalue the idea of winning in sport im convinced that you lose that edge...

Totally agree, about your maths exam.....where there's competition there's no love, this IMHO is why the whole world is Fecked.
