£50 parking ticket

Sat Aug 11, 2012 5:56 pm

Today in Costco car park. Gutted. Spoiled a very good day. Parked there all last year and and no bother.

Pay or not pay? this is the question? Capital car parks have issued it. Anyone else have one?

Ignore it.

You will get the letters but they mean nothing.

Seconded. Ignore it. It's a private company, not the council that have issued it, and therefore unenforceable. They'll send you no end of letters, threatening you with action, but just bin them.

I am currently still binning letters from ASDA in Gravesend a year after I parked there without purchasing a ticket from the machine.

If in doubt, Google the company and you'll find lots of similar stories.

Ignore it, i recently had one & the demands rose to 150 pound & then it stopped. They're scammers & unless it's council or police ignore it.

I had one from parking in the Asda car park. I decided to reply to the letter and stated that it was my car but I wasn't driving that night and suggested they took the matter up with the driver concerned. The fine is against the driver not the vehicle and you're under no obligation to name who the driver was.

Never heard from them again.

I would follow the advice though and ignore them as they will give up despite all the threats they may make.

No legal standing and they rely on 'soft punters' to pay up with no fuss

And how can they PROVE without some doubt that you weren't in costco?

Just ignore this one but be aware they are thinking of introducing 'clamps' and that is a completely different matter!! :ayatollah:

Ignore it. I had one few years back for parking in a supermarket car park. Ignore the chasing letters and eventually nothing will happen. Once its been 6 months its void anyway. They just rely on soft people paying them. I looked into the legal side of it too they basically can't enforce them should they follow it up. It amounts to nothing more than an invoice from a legal stand point as its a private company. If no the other hand its issued by the council then you are screwed and can't get out of it. hope that helps.
