PETER Whittingham can’t wait to taste the Cardiff City Stadium atmosphere again this Saturday, writes Terry Phillips.

Premier League Newcastle are the visitors for City’s final pre-season match and Whittingham says: “There is always a great atmosphere at our stadium.

“Our pre-season preparations have gone well, we’ll be fit and firing for Newcastle – and our opening Championship clash with Huddersfield.”

The Bluebirds are preparing for a big weekend with the official re-opening of the stadium on Friday evening from 7pm with live music, a fun-fair, hog roast, drinks tent and special offers in the stadium superstore.

Manager Malky Mackay will perform the opening ceremony at 10pm and all City fans are welcome with free tickets available in advance or £2 on the night.

Newcastle visit the next afternoon, while Huddersfield come to the stadium on Friday, August 17 for an opening Championship match being shown live on Sky television (7.45pm).

“We are in good shape as a squad and personally I can’t wait to run out at Cardiff City Stadium,” says Whittingham.

“We’ve had the hard pre-season we needed – the gaffer (Malky Mackay) has really worked us – and with a few new signings in the squad things are looking good.

“We need a good start to finally put the disappointment of last season behind us and we are all looking forward to Huddersfield.”

Tickets for the match against Newcastle are £15 adults and £10 under-16 if they are season ticket holders. For non season ticket holders the cost is £20 adults, while under-16 tickets are still £10.

Tickets are on sale from the Stadium ticket office in person, by phone on 0845 345 1400 or via the club’s official website at cardiffcityfc.co.uk

Well the atmosphere at CCS is hardly Whitts fault is it? No the fault lies with us the fans and it is about time we (the fans) did something about it.

There lies the problem, one bunch of fans blaming another. TBH with you mate I sit in the Ninian and the Canton seems dead from there so my perception is that you are also a 'boring sat down passionless fan'.

We should stop blaming each other and take responsibility by ignoring what 'other people do' and get on with it, although some new inspiring songs wouldn't go amiss.

I'm still determined to get the Ninian section going again (116-118 blocks). :ayatollah:

I stand up every match down in the Canton end, and chant and sing my heart out :ayatollah:
