A forum for all things Cardiff City

Cardiff City striker Robert Earnshaw has admitted he is will have to consider a move away from his boyhood club over the next few weeks and states that he needs to play. Earnie returned to City last season on a free transfer, but after starting the first few games he was dropped and barely featured again save for a goalscoring FA Cup outing and a few late subs appearances.
It would have been immensely frustrating for Earnshaw, but he maintained his professionalism and was clearly trying very hard to impress when he did feature. Unfortunately, he just didnt fit into our style and was unable to displace Kenny Miller from the side - despite the Scottish International's wobbling form.
One of the higher earners at the club, there was speculation about Earnshaw's future - especially since he appears not to be a big part of Mackay's plans. He remains a proven goalscorer at this level, and keeps himself very fit so has plenty left to offer.
Speaking to WalesOnline, Earnshaw said:
"There`s obviously been a lot of talk about me moving on and I made no secret about the fact I need to play."
"I don`t know what is going to happen over the next few weeks. I really don`t. There`s a percentage chance I won`t be a Cardiff player next season, to be honest."
"But I`m not looking for that right now. I`m looking to play, I`m looking to score goals and I`m looking to be a Cardiff City player."
With Cardiff City looking to finalise the playing squad for next season, it would be preferable to all to have Earnshaw's future sorted asap so that we can recruit a replacement if necessary and prepare fully for the upcoming campaign. While Mackay is still working on brining up to three new faces in, his job would be immensely helped by being able to ship out some of the unwanted players with Anthony Gerrard, Dekel Keinan and Robert Earnshaw high on that list.

The problem is,Earnie is on £13,000 basic which can go up to £20,000 a week, would many clubs pay him that ?

What's the point if we aren't going to use him?
Waste of a good chunk of the budgeted weekly salary if being pushed to the bench every game....

If he wants to play like he says he'll take a drop in wages.
Sadly, i belive like most modern footballers money will once again decide his fate.

Hopefully he stays. I think Malky will use him a lot with Etien and he'll form a good partnership. Looked good against Cheltenham. Plus, there's only a year left on his contract

I understand he has his coaching badges so why not use him in that capacity or as an ambassador of the club.

Im sure there will be plenty of lower Championship/Promotion chasing League One teams that would love him. Earnie could fire a League One team straight into the Championship given time

Bellamy in Conways place when he's officially announced.
A 4-5-1 that becomes a 4-3-3 on the attack.

I certainly would not if I was Earnie and I doubt whether he would.

All the best Earnie, thanks for the first time around, unfortunately you are not good enough for us now, just like when you moved on when you were to good for us.......
Good luck in the future

Robs been trying to get from us since october-november last season he knows MM does not rate him nore was he MM signing when comming to the club but the clubs who have shown intrest are nowhere near his earnings currently, people say its about playing football i would get it if he was 21 again and could take 5-6k per week wages knwoing his time will come but to move for half the money at this stage in his footballing life 1-2 years left i guess for 5-6k per week when he can stay here for another season on 11k after tax basic wage then who can blame him, besides if he scores a league goal it a 3k goal bonus, when he signed for us he never had a signing on fee which would have been in the region of £120,000 i was told hence why his wages are what they are
Sun Aug 05, 2012 8:35 pm
So he cares more about money than playing then

I also recall Mason speaking very highly of how much Earnie had helped him develop last season do this could be a logical move?
Sun Aug 05, 2012 9:53 pm
Reason I want him to go his because hes past it and wages.. if he can accept a wage drop I would keep him.. Seeing him in pre season shows he can be used in some sort of way.. wouldn't be dissapointed if he left.
Sun Aug 05, 2012 11:31 pm
he's past it....get rid now

My concern is that Kim-Bo and Velikonja are unproven at this level/this division.
