Olympic Boxing

Sun Aug 05, 2012 8:12 am

A question that was bought up in work last night. The football was full of highly paid proffesionals, the cycling team are pros , Tennis players are pros. So why don't they have proffesional Boxers ?
Is it because the Olympics have excepted the governing body for the Amateur code and that is why the pros can't compete ?
Anyone know ?

its because there's a huge difference in the amateur boxing set up i.e. the amount of rounds they box the length of the rounds too headgear as well Where in tennis and footie there in no difference to the basics of the game :ayatollah:

You can also add the different rules and the different point scoring systems as well.

Pro and amateur boxing are virtually two different sports these days. In my opinion, obviously.

the boxing scoring is f*cking stupid in the olympics.

other day some azerbajanny guy was ahead but the jap was making a strong comeback so the azer kept throwing himself on the floor to waste time. done it 6 times in the final round. he won ffs.pathetic.

the olympuc board then rightly overturned the result but it was just farcical.

I believe that was more down to appalling refereeing, not the scoring system. Although, I do agree that the Olympic scoring system is crap.

The ref should have given him a warning, then a point deduction and then stopped it. He allowed the guy to keep flopping onto the floor.

Disgusting performance from the ref. Almost as bad as the fighter.

Thankfully the lad that "lost" won the appeal and they reversed the decision.

Why don't they show the points being scored in the olympic boxing anymore like they used to? Made it a lot more exciting when you could see the points going up as they were scored in my opinion.

Because the judges n refs bein gettimg alot of shit for poor decisions and they didnt want any, people sayimg its corrupt so they only show points end of each round
