Craig Bellamy’s Cardiff move nears as Liverpool open talks

Craig Bellamy’s second spell at Liverpool is nearing the end according to reports.

Cardiff City have allegedly been allowed to open talks with the Reds on a deal to take the forward back to the Welsh capital, with the former Manchester City player failing to get reassurances from Brendan Rodgers about playing time.

According to the Metro, Bellamy is eager to get more games under his belt having been used largely as a substitute for Liverpool last season – and he’s prepared to look elsewhere to get more game time this term.

Cardiff are the favourites to get his signature and everything points to him returning to the Championship side where he enjoyed a season on loan two years ago.

Cardiff are once again amongst the promotion favourites after missing out in the play-offs in each of the last three seasons.

They can currently be backed at 10/1 to get to the Premier League for the first time as Championship winners, but those odds will surely shorten if the Team GB star joins.

He didn’t exactly set the second tier alight the last time he was there though, scoring just 11 goals in his 35 league games for his hometown side.

With that in mind, a better bet may be to back Cardiff to finally end their play-off hoodoo by gaining promotion that way.

The Bluebirds are currently 7/2 to get promotion through the play-offs and that may be a bet well worth consideration if Bellamy joins and can inspire his team.

Dont get the allowed to open talks with the reds bit, surely you can enquire, talk to any club about signing a player, who do you need permmision off? Surely it means the club have been allowed to talk to the player and his agent
