2nd season syndrome

Fri Aug 03, 2012 8:42 pm

Happy with the mighty capital at the moment so got some time to talk about the rat infested slums!!

Are they going down in this new great season??

I think there going to struggle as they ain't made any waves in this window.

They surprised me last season but it's going to be tough for them this time.

Down in 18th position on the last day. Making it all the more painful for them. With all these rumours about Laudrup can't be good for them, while they haven't pulled off any superstar signings

I hope you are right but I thought they'd suffer 2nd season syndrome in championship. A lot will depend on new signings and whether caulker can be replaced at back. If allen goes they will need to find a big replacement. The one thing they have which we don't is debt free status (we can argue how they shafted creditors but they didn't breech any rules)

Caulker has already been replaced by Chico Flores who was the linchpin of the Mallorca defence last season (4th best in La Liga).and De Guzman looks like the ready made replacement for Allen.

And we "shafted" local creditors to the tune of around £60k.

What's your honest, rivalry aside genuine thoughts on our new signings and the possibility of your nightmare coming back to the capital?

i din't know what to expect last season and it will be the same this time , but what i do know is there has never been a better time to be a swansea supporter and i'm loving it whatever happens we are financially stable with a board full of swansea supporters who only want what's best for the club , happy days

I genuinely can't see Swansea doing that well next season.

If Taylor and Allen move on which seems quite likely at the moment that'll be two key players to replace, and while they'll no doubt get quite a wedge for the both of them there's no way that'll go straight back into the squad and it would be irresponsible to do that really.

Any replacements aren't going to be as good and while you could get a few players to increase depth overall Laudrup has this mad idea about having 22-23 players so that's that idea out of the window.

Personally I see relegation next season as any three from West Brom, Reading, Swansea, Norwich and Southampton.

If Allen goes they will get relegated. If he stays they will stay up. Britton and Allen are the cog in the Swansea engine and are irreplaceable. Removing them would be like going from a reliable Volkswagen to a crappy MG Rover. I don't care how good they think the new players coming in will be, they won't be as good as Allen and Britton. Those two have a chemistry that is amazing, a natural understanding of each other. The new players will take time to gel and in this time Swansea will drop invaluable points. As pressure kicks in, in the second part of the season, Swansea will start dropping more points as teams like liverpool and spurs and arsenal chase for fourth.

If these new players can adapt quickly (if Allen goes), they may just stay up. If not, I reckon they will go down.
