Has anyone worked with a bailiff company before..?

Thu Aug 02, 2012 8:53 am

As many of you know Ive had a issue wth someone owing me money for almost two years now. However as I've recently got a CCJ against the defendant I got a local bailiff company to help get what is owed.

So the question I want to ask is does anyone know how long it will take a bailiff company to actually knock the door from the first meeting with them..? Its taking a while and it does feel as if the bailiff company is fobbing me off.

I tried them at first but they don't do personal debt only commercial. Also I don't fancy starting again with another bailiff company if I can help it.

Surely if you got a ccj against them, the court bailiff will act for you

been told by many that they are a complete waste of time compared to private bailiff companies because they are salaried compared to private bailiffs who work on commission

If its a personal debt then you'd be wise to just write it off.

Well obviously it aint working or you wouldnt be asking about bailiffs for a PD, if you want to hire bully boys then you should have just said so. But if you go down the legal route you have no chance of seeing your money again

The worse comes to the worse then I will puta charge on her property and force the sale of her house or get a sum directly from her pay packet every month as both those avenues are open to me. This is just the first legal option which I am taking.

It wont happen, Id guarantee they'll win. Unless you have the said loan in black & white and with a security you have no chance seeing your money again. And all legal costs will go to you, Im sure you wont miss the £5 you loaned.

1 I worked with a private bailiff company some years ago
2 I have had people owing me four figure sums on legally enforceable debt

1 Private bailiffs are better than court bailiffs as they work on a %,but it can be very difficult to establish ownership of goods to be seized so you will be lucky to see any money down that route. The sooner you go for attachment,if the debtor is employed the better
2 I preferred to cut my losses and walk away, but made me feel a lot better, even though I have been significantly out of pocket.

ccj are civil they still don't have to pay as long as they do not let a bailiff in the house to levy on any goods only a high court bailiff or magistrate bailiff have the right to force entry with a liability order ,
