Since Annis made the thread about Earnie, Gerrard and Taiwo, everyone seems to reckon Earnie is off or NEEDS to go. Malky took him to Switzerland, said he has a future and started him in both friendlies so far along with the new striker.
Maybe Malky can see Etien is the kind of player Earnie needs alongside him?
But I think Earnie still has a part to play this season, even if he is a bit part player I still reckon he is capable of bagging 10 goals with the right service and support. Plus, he seems to be enjoying himself more now

Totally agree, I believe this could be Earnie's season.
Earnie and Miller just didnt seem to work out, they were too similar.......where as Earnie seems to work well with Etien and Mason.

I disagree, I didn't think he should have come back last season, but I understand why he did. He's not good enough any more and every time he came on last season or started he didn't bring anything to the table.
When I went to watch CCFC play Forest Green Rovers the other day, it had seemed he had got fitter and lost a bit of weight and I thought he would be another player, more determined, but no. He was still the same player from last season. Not sharp or quick enough to do the job that everyone expects. I'd like to see him replaced personally.

i think Earnie played well tonight, and scored a great headed goal from his oddly shaped head tonight! he still has a future no doubt!... and that velikonja impressed me tonight, hard working, not afraid to get stuck in to a tackle and gets into good positions. didn't have much opportunities tonight to have a clear shot but from training he looked like he got a good shot on him! (unlike miller who missed every shot he had in training)
btw we kept the ball on the floor well tonight, and conway put in some good crosses, play like that instead of hoofing it upfield and we won't need a target man which everyone is gagging for!

In before some says he's not a "malky-type" player.

It seems Earnie has more of a chance appearing this season than last. If that is the case and he does get game time he will score 10-15 goals this season. Believe it or not last season he had the best of goals per game ratio of the strikers ! He just did not get the game time.
Many mock Earnie now but he can still do a job although we are still supposedly awaiting this 'marquee striker', who has not appeared yet !

Not sure anyone would say that. Earnie is the definition of a 'malky type player'. Total pro.

Think back to his missed open goal at Wembley against England last Sept ...... shocking

We all would love to have the old earnie back, but unfortunately it very seldom does work, but he may still be a squad player, and someone MM could turn to after 60mins or so but that would be all he hope for, IMO

IMO he is perfect person to have on the bench. He can come on and change the game.Like I have said many times he would have scored alot more goals than miller if given the chances last season.

IMHO, if we are to challenge for a top 2 finish, we need to score at least 80 goals this season. That means that that we need two strikers capable of hitting 20+ goals each.
Don't get me wrong I like Earnie. I just don't see him in that category any more and, sadly, we can no longer take the risk
