SMART-PHONE/GADGET INSURANCE FOR IPHONE/GALAXY !

Now if you're not interested in saving yourself a few quid on mobile phone/gadget insurance premiums, don't bother reading any further. However, if like me, you are bit of a gadget geek (iphone/Galaxy/HTC1X) then you WILL save money and get yourself better cover in the process!

I have scoured the net for the best possible deal on insurance cover that was both competitive and will give you a vast amount of cover too for my Samsung Galaxy S3.

I understand a lot of you guys may be paying WELL OVER the odds for decent insurance from your network providers through 3rd party insurers, some of these charging you between £12 - £15 each month on top of your standard monthly phone bill, which I thought was disgusting!! and it prompted me to carry out an extensive search for the overall best gadget insurer/price!

Well as you may well know, your standard network provider is NOT paying out for liquid damage to your smartphone/gadget, and now they are getting very funny with loss of a phone through neglect as well, as a friend of mine has recently experienced!

PROBLEM SOLVED! I have found a company that will cover all the usual as well as (believe it or not Water damage AND *loss too) for only £7.99 a month!

This is £4 cheaper per month (£48 p/year!) than the cover provided by the network provider through their 3rd party recommended insurers.

*if you want LOSS covered it is an extra £1 per month on the premium (£8.99)

Another benefit of this cover is that they send you an entry into the new TAGBAK Scheme. This is simply a matter of sticking the provided sticker they supply you with a Tag ID inside or on the back of your device with a number for the finder to call if you lose your phone, telling them that there is a cash reward if they ring the number also. The size of the reward is down to you as they will pay 5 times greater than your initial fee into the scheme - eg. you pay £20 to enter - then the fee to the finder would be £100!) you can pay between £0-£20 to enter. Another benefit of this is that the finder would ring up and give all their details after finding your device before actually finding out how much the cash reward is - therefore a greater chance of your phone being recovered at some stage.

Anyway, I know it's a bit of a long winded post about something simple, but a saving is a saving at the end of the day.

If you take out an additions plus account with Barclays bank, part of the perk is you get complete cover on electronic products including my samsung galaxy. I took out insurance when I had my phone, but when Barclays reviewed my account they asked me, why was I paying out insurance for my phone when I was already covered on my additions plus account ! so I then cancelled original policy in view of my oversight.

Or get an ultimate reward account with Halifax. Do it jointly with your mrs and for ten pound a month get mobile phone insurance and travel insurance and breakdown cover.

Bargain. Water damage too.
