I'm proud to be British most days. Not too bothered what Scotland and Northern Ireland do, up to them, but would hate Wales and England to go our seperate ways. The Olympics leave me cold though. Really can't be bothered.

Now that I live surrounded my Americans and Germans I am even more proud to be British. Will always see myself as British rather than just welsh, although when anyone asks I always answer that I'm from Wales, before explaining that it's in Britain

No, although I am proud to be British, spending £23 billion to bring a sporting competition to the UK doesn't increase my pride one bit.

why do you feel proud?

We can be proud as Britain is an amazing place to be, from west Wales and the coastline, to the lake district, edinburgh always has the best place to be for new years, London rivals all big cities. We have history, a queen to be hugely proud of, and we aree hosting the greatest and biggest sporting event the world has ever seen.

I love living in Germany, and think it can rival the britain, but it hasn't suffered anywhere near as bad as most places in europe financially, so try living in Spain, Italy, Greece etc and see how great it is at the moment.

We all moan about immigration etc, but France, Germany and italy all suffer very badly, just get a train into Italy and get off near the boarder and you will see immigrants campy there.

It is massively hard times for most in Britain the moment, and te Olympics have been massively over budget, but it's still a competition t savour in my eyes.

But I also see that the country can be seen very different from another persons eyes whilst the financial crisis exists and all of our circumstances are different, so to a good few people Britain is terrible, and for them nobody can argue that it isn't I suppose.

Always have and always will be British first. Devolution was the worst thing that has ever happened to this country, just another excuse to find jobs for has been politicians. Sack the lot of them!

personally, I dont feel proud to be German. I am proud on things I have achieved, it wasnt my choice being born German, so how can I be proud being one? I can say "I'm glad I'm German..." rather that than being Afghani or Syrian...

I feel the exact same way. I'm happy for the people who can take pride in the region or country they live in, it's great. But I don't quite feel the same as my fellow countrymen when they dress up in orange during football matches or sing the national anthem, but I'm happy for the people who do.

well theres nothing wrong being patriotic when ur country participates at a tourament etc. i dont class this a nationalism anyways, everone here (even the green and the lefties) support Germany when we play (esp. against the dutch... )...

...but I'm glad I am not in the UK right now. 8 years ago, I lived in Cardiff and those c*nts of the BBC spoiled the Olympic games for me. Ignorant, arrogant commentating and reporting, completely biased towards one side, unsportsmanlike and chauvinist/nationalistic... I went ballistic and almost smashed my TV at one time... so I can understand the fury the Welsh have while watching TV and its "Engerland this...and Engerland that..." etc during the World Cup or Euros...

I'm certainly not a Welsh nationalist and I'm not anti-Britain but I don't feel British at all.

Everything about "Britain" leaves me feeling alienated. From the Union Jack to God Save the Queen; I just can't relate to it in any way.
