support for Gwyn and call for calm

Fri Jul 27, 2012 9:13 am

Plenty of mis-informed personal abuse has been written about my best friend Gwyn Davies (BIGGWYNRAM) on these messageboards during the past couple of months which has personally infuriated me.

I will be first to agree that Gwyn sometimes don’t always help himself but he is big and brave enough to stand up for his view point under his own name and debate in a civil manner, and don’t need me or anyone else to help me, but he doesn’t deserve to have blatant lies written about him.

Those of you who know Gwyn personally will know he is far from a bully and in fact deplores bullying. He is one of the most generous caring blokes I know who will give someone his last penny rather than watch them struggle; he has been there for many us when times have been tough for us always offering to lend a hand or his help. The personal attacks and accusations that have been aimed at him on these messageboards have been astounding and I amazed that the board owners and moderators have allowed this vile tittle tattle to fester into aggressive Vitriol towards Gwyn, despite no evidence at all to back up their accusations from anonymous posters.

Like everyone else on these boards Gwyn loves Cardiff City FC with a passion, he is entitled to his view as you are entitled to yours, but Gwyn is also entitled to dignified replies like everyone else on this board are.

I had decided just to post supporters club information on the boards, and stay out of the debate that’s been raging since the announcement, but I decided against this after constant stream character assassination posts against my best friend Gwyn just because he happens to hold a different opinion to a group of you on these boards.

There are other posters, who have suffered similar fate also, and I implore the board owners and moderators to do your job and delete these posts as they occur, I understand freedom of speech and people are passionate about this subject but there is a line I feel that is being crossed to often on these boards.

The majority of us are against the change of colour but accept at this moment in time we have no other alternative that guarantee the future of Cardiff City Football Club. 17,000 of us have bought season tickets to go and SUPPORT our club. Thousands of us will make our protest in a peaceful manner, and continue to wear our blue tops, hats, caps etc but we will be there for one reason to support Cardiff City FC, and the team on the pitch. I know not all of you can bear to watch Cardiff play in red many of you I know personally and wouldn’t have taken that decision lightly, being in love with the club as much as anyone else I find it very sad that it is has come to this, and I hope in the future you will return as some of you were watching in the bad times with me. In the long term now the change has taken place, I see the fans group role as ensuring the investment happens, and compromise can be made in the future regarding the badge and changing back to our primary colour Blue.

So can we please all call a truce on the personal insults, threats etc. and respect each other views? All sides in my opinion have made valued arguments in support of their beliefs but they have now been done to a death, and its time to get on with the season whether you are campaigning or supporting RESPECT each others stance, and keep them apart, as supporters have already made their choices now all the arguments have been put forward, and debated.

Thanks Vince but as you say Gwyn is a big bloke and can fight his own battles. It is interesting that you are now calling for calm and for moderators to do their job because Gwyn is actually a moderator on this forum. Its a shame that this could not be applied to the events that happened at the KCB meeting and it would also be nice if as well as backing your mate Gwyn, you also took the opportunity to condemn the actions of the idiots who disrupted the KCB meeting because some of the flack Gwyn is receiving currently is a direct result of his presence at the meeting. :ayatollah:

Vince, you say "RESPECT other peoples stance. Fair enough but where was the respect of the idiots who disrupted the KCB meeting. How can you support the actions of Gwyn and his mob who didn't turn up to be informed, just hell bent on disruption, and 'our way or no way' attitude.

Re: support for Gwyn and call for calm

I agree with this post i am 100% against the Red Shirts and hate the new fecking badge but like 1000's of others i love the Club too much to walk away :ayatollah:

With regards Gwyn he his definitely big enough to fight is own battles ;) :D and is always willing to converse with anyone on anything concerning City at any time i consider him a friend although i do not see him that often i know he's always the type you can call on in times of trouble and during his time with the Valley Rams he did more to curtail our hooligan reputation than anyone else i know. :old:

I am stating that and i am certainly no fans leader or Club lackey just an ordinary fan like 1000's of other who just wants the season to start so i can get 100% behind Malky and the Team :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Also remember Vince that Gwyn has done his fair share of belittling the opinions of others and winding up the pro blue section of our support but you have somehow chosen to ignore this. If you want respect for your opinions then start by condemning the actions of the idiots that disrupted the KCB meeting or were some of your other mates involved in this as well? :ayatollah:

Where is the respect of the people who are campaigning for our owners who are plowing £1.2m + per month into our club?
Where is the respect for Malky and the team when they are planning protests inside the ground?
Where is the respect for other people's views outside KCB?

No, the word RESPECT was mentioned.

RESPECT is a two way street, something that is earned. How do the KCB group aim to earn respect when they are thinking of protesting in the ground (and possibly having a negative effect on the team).

It's ok to say Gwyn has no respect, but are any of the protesters any better... No.

No, but in the latest "KCB Statement", it was mentioned that those were the plans. Thanks for your great input once again though Craig :D

I was at the first meeting, couldnt make the 2nd due to work....at the first meeting it was said that at no point would we disrupt the match, as far as i can see there is nothing wrong with a banner.

Where is the respect for the views of the KCB? The difference is that all the groups you mention have not been threatened. :ayatollah:
