i reserve the right to defend myself

The Current State of Things

If there is such a thing as a natural right it is surely the right to self-defence, for any organism will defend itself when attacked. To deny a man the right to defend himself when attacked would be literally inhuman and, of course, we have that right in law. :D :old: :old:

Wrong.... You only have that right as long as you don't get the better of the guy attacking you... I had 2 guys attack my Mum a few years ago because I wasn't home when they went looking for me, and when I rushed home after she rang they were still waiting. They both swung for me, but I then proceeded to teach them some manners and not to ever put their hands on my Mum again... Unfortunately though, as I bettered them, I ended up getting arrested and was told unless both my mother and I dropped our charges against them, then they would proceed with the charges against me, and as I had made a little bit of a mess of them whilst remaining generally unscathed myself would probably face a far heftier sentence than them...

So the moral of the story, if someone swings at you, drop to the floor, curl up in a ball, and cry like a baby, then when the police arrive you are blameless and they will hopefully receive a swift telling off followed by a trip on an African safari to contemplate their wrong-doings....

Good enough for the two lads you smashed up, they deserved it.
In regards to the law, of course you can defend yourself, using what YOU perseve to be 'reasonable force'
