Yeah, we lost 4-1. Great trip, though. I stayed in Wurzburg with the CCFC Supporters Club. Lots of stolen Stella Artois from a place in Belgium on the way home. I didn't steal it, I just drank it on the bus to Calais.

That was a quality trip, surprised how time flies, Frankfurt was also cracking as part of that trip, I'm deffo going to to do some more Wales away games over the next 18 months.

Was that Ryan Giggs debut ?

I was there, drove by car for a week, stayed in various parts of Europe en route and on the return. Had a car full of ale as well picked up in the days of the cheap booze cruises at cash and carry in Calais.

Gavin Maguire (Pompey if I recall) gave a fine display at full back - whatever happened to him

the krauts didnt fancy it off the pitch???????????,the fuckers were right up for it from what i can remember,there was loads of fighting on the way back to the car park,so much so we missed our bus and we were staying 2 hours away,happy days

There were more police there than the Olympics, three of us cut through a park walking back and there must have been two thousand police in vehicles kept in reserve in case they were needed, it was like the Nurenburg rallies mark 2.
on thinhg i remember is a huge welsh flag with f**k swansea written on it, and the police kindly took it offf the lads and laid it out flat on the trackside so eveyone could see it.

Ah the memories

About ten of us came out the ground after the game, somehow ended up on the
wrong side of the crash barriers to the Wales supporters, coppers wouldnt let us
join them. Long walk, then a tube or tram? cant quite remember. We walked up
towards the Irish bar and the Germans were going nuts. City lads had just run them
everywhere. The krauts were turning cars over the works. We split up a bit and
walked right through the lot of them. Near the Irish bar I seen a few more of ours
behind the coppers and joined them... they'd been nicked, now so was I

Coppers and army took us all back to some barracks. I shared my hoolivan cell with
a few docks boys, one of them blond. He said "f**k it, we're gonna get smashed by the
OB when we get out the van, im getting straight into them.".. uh-oh

So we were all geared up for a kicking that never came. Processed. Babs and Jeff were
there Liaison coppers. they were good as gold to be fair..

Anyways... one by one... escorted by five camouflage cops,across a courtyard, past a
midnight express looking guard. Down the steps, YOU JUST KNOW THERES A KICKING
COMING ANY SECOND... down to one big cell.. My mate was first one there, he was
pissing himself... said "i bet you thought you were getting a hiding, i did!".... every
single lad who came down them stairs had the same look on their faces

Maybe 20 of us in this cell singing "she used to bring me roses" off prisoner cell block H

Cos forur of us were staying outside Nurenburg and we had to catch a coach, the coppers let
us go.... The Legend was sat in the cell too... "bye bye Alan, see you soon!" if looks could kill

Coppers then ran us across the City at about 120mph to catch our coach, then opened his boot and
gave us a crate of Becks "you Vales men are crazy ja? now leave my City!!"

What a trip

I remember a german flag being burnt and us lot pretending to be planes and singing the damebusters tune! ... I also remember the stadium emptying and neo-nazis were everywhere just standing about looking menacing! ... Great trip! .... What pissed me of though was yorath picking mcguire (who was in the reserves at pompy) over pembrigde. Pembridge played brilliantly at right back during our 1-0 win over brazil a few months earlier. We f*cking ripped brazil to threads that day!

Remember a 'Jack' being on our bus from Aberdare. Took the piss out of him all the way to the ferry.When i got to the ground tried to join in with the singing........couldn't fecking speak.......totally hoarse.Walking to the ground we had to go through some woods. Told my mate that there were Panzer tanks in there. Thought he was going to shit himself.Brilliant time.

Great trip. Quite a few from Ely went on coach great laugh. I think I saved my YTS for 3 months to go there. My 1st proper away trip with Wales... I think Ive done at least 30 now. Better than City trips as your away for 3nights on the lash with good friends..

Hard to believe that was 21 years ago our trip from Aberdare didn't start off too well when our driver refused to drive because we were all bringing slabs of beer on the bus He claimed that it was illegal to drink on the way to a football match despite the fact we explained the game was 2 days and 100's of miles away he was then informed if he didn't drive the bus one of the boys would

Eventually the bus company sent a new bus driver and we were on our way we stayed in Frankfurt and had a long bus trip down to Nuremburg and my abiding memory of that night was 4000 Welsh fans with their arms outstretched singing the Dambusters theme It was also the night Ryan Giggs made his debut and Maguire from Portsmoth was absolutely shit pretty sure he scored an og and was responsible for 2 other Geman goals.

Didn't get back to Frankfurt until around 3am and after a quick change we were out grabbing a pizza and a few beers great trip with great company and fantastic memories
