How our squad is stronger already than it was last season ?
Lewis for Heaton
The Slovenian for Miller
Mutch for Lawrence.
Keinan and Gerrard bombed out
and 8 released.
......................................................................
This is our squad as it stands and my opinion on them.
Marshall (Average Keeper for this Level)
McNaughton (Headless Chicken with no end product, blatantly not good enough to play higher level by the fact no one has ever come in for him)
Taylor (You all saw what he was like last season, but I will give him another chance)
Kiss (Potential)
Hudson (Committed but to slow sorry)
Whittingham (Just like Chopra and Bothroyd, higher echelons of championship, never cut it in the EPL)
Cowie (He's alright)
Earnshaw (Sorry Earnie mate, time to move on)
Conway (He's alright)
Gestede (Injury Prone)
Gunnarsson (Class for this level)
Mason (Realy like him, Class for this level)
Blake (I like Darcey, but Id f**k off if I was him, never given a consistent run)
Turner (Class for this level)
Harris (Who knows?)
Parish (Who?, what was the point, the new Santiago)
McPhail (I like him, but we need better sorry)
Ralls (Potential
Lewis (Potential)
Mutch (Potential)
Velikonja (Nobody knows)
Iv seen it said on here a few times and to be honest I am absolutely stunned by that..
How can anyone come to that conclusion?
Sat Jul 21, 2012 8:20 pm
Is it weaker? Probably same as at this stage
Sat Jul 21, 2012 8:26 pm
I think the people saying we have a stronger squad now are assuming that we are signing Kim, Bellers, a defender and another striker
It's not stronger yet, but if we do sign them I think we'll be near to completion.
Sat Jul 21, 2012 8:27 pm
also the players malky has let go, not including miller.....MM didnt play them and the replacements he's getting in will play some part.....so it is stronger in that sense.
Sat Jul 21, 2012 8:29 pm
I don't think it is anywhere strong enough to challenge for a top 2 spot and realistically it would be a struggle to get near the top 6. If re enforcements come in the next few week it could be a different story.

Malky has a few more weeks yet, lets give him the chance to spend all this promised money and Malky has publicly stated it and I was present , he will spend every penny, interesting times.

The clock is ticking mate, they have already been on their pre season training camp
and play Forest Green a week today.
Are we going to here the old line the players never had a pre season again?
If the Malaysians were serious surely all their plans would have been
in place ready to hit the road running?
Sat Jul 21, 2012 8:52 pm
"8 released" lol. Most have them have already been replaced by the new youth ie Jesse Darko as they included people like Taiwo, Quinn, Nalor, Wildig, Meades and Alex Evans who if you hadn't noticed, basically never played so it is VERY easy to say 8 have gone but if they never played in the first place, are they even worth worrying about?
Sat Jul 21, 2012 8:52 pm
Personally think the squad is as strong, or it was before Miller left, as the squad of last season.

I take your point but the bottom line is last season people said our squad was wafer thin and it was.
We have swaped 3 for 3 and released 8 so how is the squad stronger now?
Thats all im asking.

Alex Evans was supposed to be the Mutts Nutts and the next big thing. Jessie who?
Bet we wont see him next season.

So you agree with the loss of Miller its currently weaker Carl? and with less than a month before the first game of the season, the training camp in Switzerland already having been complete and a pre season game next Saturday we are currently behind
our rivals?
As I said above mate, I believe this is all pie in the sky, if VT was serious he would have had a plan of attack
lined up months ago, and him and Malky would have been prepared for whatever eventuality occurred after the play offs be it Premier League or Championship.
Its a circus fella. They have not got a clue.

Top question - not as good as last season's squad that was not good enough ! I think we need at least four more quality signings , sooner rather than ...... ! That sun strong today Annis ?!

Arrived back this am, here for a few days on business then back out there again, scorching over there.
Be at the Huddersfield home game.

I don't think last seasons squad was thin it was just very poorly balanced.
Of the 8 released how many league appearances did they make? Not many, even add in Gerrard and Keinan and it's few games.
Lewis for Heaton is a straight swap
Miller for the new guy? Who knows
Lawrence for a few months or Mutch perm - Massive improvement.
Just under a month to go before the season starts so I'm massively confident we will be stronger next season.
Not sure who told yoi Alex Evans was the next bet thing but he is poor, league of Wales standard.

Loads of people used to rave over Alex Evans mate, Wildig was the same, now they are on about Darko.
I take it all with a pinch of salt to be honest.

Disagree on Marshall, McNaughton, Taylor, Hudson, Cowie, Whitts and Conway.
I thought Taylor was excellent last season, as was Hudson and Cowie. Marshall is also a fantastic keeper at this level.
SuperKev didn't have an amazing season but that's just City fans. Quick to jump on someone's back if they are not fantastic 100% of the time.
I think Whitts will be able to make it in the Prem now, fantastic player and would thrive in the more tactical Prem game. Especially as it's less physical and you have generally more time on the ball

Hardly the clubs fault, these young players just need time to develop and for the club to see who is good enough.

Marshall (Average Keeper for this Level) Top keeper for this level. Did you see some of his saves last season. Was one of the players of the seasons, stopped plenty of goals.
McNaughton (Headless Chicken with no end product, blatantly not good enough to play higher level by the fact no one has ever come in for him) Hardly a "headless chicken", you goon. At the end of the day he played in a position under Malky that he was not used to under DJ.
Taylor (You all saw what he was like last season, but I will give him another chance) Very decent defender! Best left back we've had in years.
Kiss (Potential)
Hudson (Committed but to slow sorry) You say that Turner is class at this level but Hudson is very similar. Slowish, great header of the ball but very dependable. Improved season after season.
Whittingham (Just like Chopra and Bothroyd, higher echelons of championship, never cut it in the EPL)I'm sorry you can't say that. He did well for Villa when he played a full first team season in the Prem. Is a top player.
Cowie (He's alright) Very decent signing, especially on a free. Played a important role to getting to the playoffs. Got a little jaded by the end of the season but he played a shedload of games.
Earnshaw (Sorry Earnie mate, time to move on)
Conway (He's alright) Looked very decent in the games that he played and chipped in with a few important goals. Looked good just before he got injured after a break.
Gestede (Injury Prone)
Gunnarsson (Class for this level)
Mason (Realy like him, Class for this level)
Blake (I like Darcey, but Id f**k off if I was him, never given a consistent run)
Turner (Class for this level) Very good player but poor distribution from the back i.e. hoofs the ball up far too often.
Harris (Who knows?)
Parish (Who?, what was the point, the new Santiago)
McPhail (I like him, but we need better sorry)
Ralls (Potential)
Lewis (Potential) Has been called up to England squad and has been a consistent first team member for P'Boro, much more experience than Heaton.
Mutch (Potential) Highly rated by Brum fans, could be a cracking signing.
Velikonja (Nobody knows)Fantastic prospect. Has a knack for goal as a poacher. Watched him a bit this season and he could be a stunning signing.
Just some of my opinions on what Millar has said.
Sat Jul 21, 2012 11:58 pm
I'll wait until the end of August and then I'll decide if our squad is strong enough for promotion.

this is also my opinion....
if we add bellamy, kimbo and another striker, we are well on our way to a complete squad!
as for the youngsters, ralls was looking good last yr, add to that, harris, and one kid im reading about all the time is o'sullivan. our under 21 team will be full of potential....
Sun Jul 22, 2012 10:49 am
There is also another part to this question. Is the opposition any better?
We could in theory win this league with a weaker squad simply because the rest of the Championship is either more weaker than last year, or potential rivals haven't got the right management in place.
Sun Jul 22, 2012 11:05 am
" (Nobody knows)Fantastic prospect. Has a knack for goal as a poacher. Watched him a bit this season and he could be a stunning signing"
Come on none of us have watched him properly....I don't think you tube counts. Or 2 or 3 games. To know about a player you got to have seem them for at least half a season and that's in person. You can't spot a players movement off camera. Do unless I've been over and watched a good few games live I don't really think we know what he's like. We just trust malky and his scouts.

Its a fuckin joke lads everyone knows the transfers that stall at our club are never completed
If Bellamy kim and 3 mire dont sign we are going to be deflated
And too thin to Challenge for 46 matches
Wel get closer to League one than the prem
WHO is this mystery striker
??????? Cos its sure fuckin gone quiet over here whoever he is this club should be signing them before forest Green and preparino for pre season
Not being stingey fuckers holding out for kim and Bellamy to fall through, and then get left with the scraps
That malky wil be reluctant to signin as they dont fit his Wish list the stubborn fucker that he is
Mon Jul 23, 2012 12:03 pm
We are top 2 stop being so negative, this realistic crap really is impacting on our ego. When we are mid table at Christmas time we want to blame the rebrand and being unsettled rather than realise we actually aren't very good.
Now go and bury your head in the sand like the rest of us. Good lad.
