Naylor hoping to impress Blues!
Free agent Lee Naylor is believed to be on trial at Birmingham with a view to earning a contract at the Championship club.Naylor was released by Cardiff last month after a two-year stay and the former England Under-21 international has been given a chance by new Blues boss Lee Clark to stake a claim for a deal, say Sky Sports sources.
The 32-year-old left-back knows the West Midlands well having played over 300 games for neighbouring Wolves before enjoying some success north of the border with Celtic.
He was on a four-man shortlist for the Scottish footballer of the year award in 2007 and is believed to have been close to earning a senior England cap under Steve McClaren.
But Naylor's stock has fallen since then and he played just two Championship games for Cardiff last season - the last of which, coincidentally, was a 1-0 win against Birmingham in December 2011.

IIRC Naylor marked Burke out of the game, Best game I have seen him play.

When a player is on trial, he's usually crap, that's exactly the case with Naylor at Brum.

He had a superb game to be fair and I remember wondering if DJ had pushed him hard enough the previous season, whether he could have played better for us then as well!

I don't think he was fit enough for the 2010-2011 season, but he couldn't half shoot and was certainly better than Taylor offensively, ask Leeds!

I liked Naylor, especially last season. He didn't just lump the ball away every single time, he passed it a bit. Impressed me at left midfield in pre season as well.
In 2010-11 I did feel quite sorry for him. Playing with Bellamy in front of you who is always forward must be difficult because you have a lot of space to cover, perhaps with a more 'hands on' manager he would have performed like he did at Leeds all season
