patience

Mon Jul 09, 2012 12:31 am

It has been well documented that Mackay has asked for patience from the Cardiff faithful regarding this latest window of opportunity and i dare say he will get it in spades from his loyal band of followers, also from those of us who dont quite see him as the second coming, therefor i would ask you to respond to my question.............what criteria will you use to judge as to whether your patience has been rewarded or not,my criteria is simple,he would need to bring in players who would bring much needed pace as well the ability to to beat an opposition player with a little bit of flair, players who can score goals, who have a proven track record for finding the net, players who not only can defend, but can do so with a little more pace than what we have now,now i dont know how many players are needed to fulfill my wish list, but i sincerely want these signings done as soon as possible...........they say that patience is a virtue,i would argue that City fans are some of the most virtues supporters of all the 92 clubs

MM has asked for patience and I hope that after fans have shown patience he produces rabbits from the hat and he signs quality players.

The one concerning thing is that we desperately need width and pace and have done so for some time. We have been linked with goalkeepers, defenders and a striker (a striker we do need) but I have not seen us being linked with any wide player. I hope that MM does not ignore width and pace otherwise it could be a long season with the chances of promotion reducing. :ayatollah:

Surely the success criteria is simple:

Roaring Success = In top two at the end of the season with a young squad that will only get better
Success = Place in the play-offs and success in final
Failure = Same as last three seasons !!

It's not rocket science. I would rather wait until 31st August for the right players than have MM go out and spend serious money on players just to appease panicky fans, particularly this season with the games starting a week later than normal and only 3 league games in August.

I agree piledriver64 that its not rocket science, also agree that Mackay should not spend stupid money to appease,as you call them panicky fans, but i have to say that a belt and braces manager like Mackay would never allow himself to do that anyway,no what concerns me is this, has Mackay got the ability to persuade quality players to sign for the City,or will we have to put up with more,as i term them, safety first signings,i do not bracket Mason and Harris as safety first signings by the way,but as for the rest of his signings, they dont exactly quicken the pulse.....im sure you will have a different perspective on this matter piledriver64,which i await with interest

I have to say, you have grown on me, although you still appear to be mostly pessimistic about all things Cardiff. Have you got any players in mind that would quicken your pulse?

It doesn't really matter what players i would like to see being signed Nedd,in all honesty im not such an expert on individual players per-say,i leave that kind of forensic thinking to you and other experts on the matter,im more interested in the type of player Mackay should sign, players with pace and skill and an eye for goal, also i would urge our manager to go for players with a proven track record,we have enough of potential stars of the future,i repeat what i wrote in an earlier posting that i have concerns about Mackays ability to entice quality players to the club, but i will keep my powder dry and show patience

I'm actually agreeing with you apart from the point that you seem to be making that we should have signed players by now.

So far I have been impressed with MMs signings when you think that he signed 10 players last summer after the squad was left in dissarray. Gunnarson, Taylor, Turner, Mason, Cowie, Conway have all made significant contributions and have years left in them, even Miller gave us something (although I readliy accept he has to be scoring 20 goals a season at this level).

January was disappointing but sometimes these things happen, for instance, Sordell was, by his own admission, on the M4 ready to sign when a Premier club made him an offer he couldn't refuse  He then spent 4 months sat on Bolton's bench :x

This summer is a test for Malky as he does have money to spend and needs to make the right signings. So far we've replaced Heaton and signed Mutch. Mutch is an example of how MM does his business, totally under the radar and no leaks

In reality we know that Prem clubs don't start their real business until August, it happens every year  This year we have the added delay of the Olympics, I just think that the time to judge MMs ability in the transfer market is at the end of August and the time to judge whether he can get the right players is May 2013.

We need a proven big striker who gets goals and a pacy winger at the very least. Add Bellamy to that (and yes I do think he will sign from what I hear) and I think we'll be there or thereabouts :ayatollah:

If we get to 1st September and haven't signed any proven talent that adds to the First XI then I will be with you in criticising the approach, until that happens I'm happy to see what Malky comes up with :ayatollah:
