CITY ON MALAYSIAN TV AFFECT OUR CROWDS?

Sat Jul 07, 2012 9:42 pm

Im assuming that if games are streamed to Malaysia then people will be able to pick the streams up online, Do you reckon that if we are able to be viewed online every week then it will affect our crowds? The supporters who pick and choose games will decide to stay home to watch the games.

I don't think it will affect our home crowds but it'll almost definitely effect how many city fans travel to away games.

I'd assume its all city games mate. Streams are normally crap and unreliable so could never see them having an impact on home attendences, although Peterborough away may seem a little less interesting if you could sit home and watch it on the net.

What do you think mate?

I just thought it was home games.

If it was away games a few attendances may drop but I don't think it would be many.

It won't affect our attendances at all, most online streams are very laggy anyway.

it could aslso mean less away fans visiting CCS if they know they can pick up a stream online

I honestly believe it will affect our home crowds especially on a bitter winters night.

Malaysia are 8 hours ahead of us in terms of timezone difference. So for example the late Tuesday night kick offs at 7:45 would mean, majority of people in Malaysia would be sleeping, thus not many will be watching the game. I hope someone mentioned that to VT

I'd imagine they would pre-record the game, and show at a later time in the evening.

These Malaysians are getting more farcical by the day  Remind me of when whatshisname Fashanu was in charge at Barry Town, and was going to have all their games broadcast in China. We all know how that ended. Who on earth is going to want to watch CCFC in Asia? This will all end in tears, you mark my words. Sooner Tan is gone, the better. And he will be gone.

Does anyone know if we are being broadcasted on a sports channel or are we going to have our own channel?

thats a fair point, we need to see if they will be pre recorded or live, pre recorded makes sense but at the moment out club doesnt lol so time will tell, if live what are your opinions?

yes my brother inlaw is one! but honestly believe once season gets going and hopefully couple signings the results will alter that,! by way attendances last season>? reason we never sold out was mainly segregation in big games! we had 18k st, 4k away fans but never fully allocated thats 22k, as crowds were 23k + 99% of crowd was our fans so doubt if had more than 2k empty seats for our own fans as cap is 26,500, just atmosphere to sort out!! :D

All games will probably be shown in the Canton Sports bar and the Butchers as they have the middle Eastern and asian satellite channels--Quality is good and the beer is cheaper than CCS

__may take a few hundred off the crowd but that is all

What right minded red blooded male (or female ;) ) is going to watch city on poor streaming on their laptop/pc when there is pleasure elsewhere ;) ;) ;)

I think if any thing is going to affect the crowds it will be the re branding. There are 16k ST holders the majority of whom signed up before the re branding. It will be interesting to see if the walk up crowd is affected. Cant see any stream to Asia having much of an impact.

I do agree the stripping of our clubs identity, I honestly believe will hurt them and if they dont get promotion this season, I dread to think what will happen. If they do get promotion, then they will get the crowds they want, the money they want and the exposure they want.

annis,

i think the prices will deter the home crowds, hardly anybody i know watch city on the laptop, unless they are in work...

my concern is that a general rule with city fans is to buy the tickets a day or so before a game as they have just been paid etc.. but if the prices are inflated closer to kick off that could see lower attendances as you wont get the walk up lot...

and not many are going to buy 3 or 4 games in advance and fork out 100quid in one month to watch some games, that is my only concern..
