QPR plan to hijack Cardiff City swoop for Liverpool FC's Craig Bellamy
By Chris WathanJul 7 2012

Craig Bellamy is wanted by Cardiff City

MARK HUGHES is planning to wreck Cardiff City’s dream of bringing Craig Bellamy back to the Bluebirds.

The former Wales boss wants to hijack a potential City swoop for the 32-year-old Liverpool ace by launching a bid to take him to Queens Park Rangers.

Bellamy – who starred on loan for his home-town club two seasons ago – is being strongly linked with a return to South Wales.

Click here: Brendan Rodgers plans to keep Bellamy at Anfield

But Hoops chief Hughes is thought to want Bellamy back under his charge after spells together with Blackburn, Manchester City and the Welsh team.

And he has the resources to make it happen after being given a bumper transfer budget by the ambitious backers at Loftus Road.

Bellamy is thought to be open to the idea of a sensational return to the Bluebirds where he proved such a hit in the 2010-11 season.

It is not clear whether QPR’s interest would alter City’s chances of making a dramatic deal happen.

Much could hinge on Bellamy’s first meeting with new Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers, who could yet insist the 69-cap star is part of the squad at Anfield following his high-profile switch from Manchester City last summer.

Rodgers linked up with members of his new squad earlier this week.

But Bellamy’s arrival at Liverpool’s Melwood training base has been delayed after his international involvement with Wales at the end of May.

Furthermore, Bellamy is unlikely to begin training with Liverpool until after the Olympic football tournament following his selection as an over-age player for Team GB, Stuart Pearce’s squad joining up for the first time today.

It is thought Liverpool would want a fee if they were to let Bellamy leave – although it is likely to be as low as £2m.

If Bellamy were to drop into the Championship with Cardiff, he would have to slash his current wages, whereas Hughes would be able to offer a Premier League salary at big-spending QPR.

Bellamy played a key role under Hughes with Wales as they got close to qualification for Euro 2004 before the ex-Manchester United forward paid £5m to take him to Blackburn from Newcastle in 2005.

Cardiff boss Malky Mackay is not thought to have spoken to Bellamy about the possibility of a return to South Wales and told the Echo: “Craig is currently contracted to Liverpool and, as with any player in that situation, I don’t think it’s appropriate to talk about other club’s players.

“But if Craig decides he is going to leave Liverpool for next season and Liverpool are prepared to let him go, then clearly we’d like to talk to him.”

If he signs for them then I will go on record as saying he may well be the biggest c**t in football!! He will be really letting himself down there. I would be devestates and wouldn't want him to be involved in our club ever again

Players only look for the cash, I don't think they got any allegiance to anyone except there bank manager, if he doesn't want to come here cos QPR offer 50k a week so what.
If he does come here I hope we don't pay stupid wages. 20k max

I can't see us paying 20k or less a week for Bellers when we are paying 25k a week for Miller.

Can anyone honestly say he would come here if we offered £30k and QPR £60k per week.
Im City through and through and I would do the loyal thing of coming back to city, I would never do a ledley and chase the £ I would be 100% loyal to the city.

Is that £25k claim fact or speculation?

On this Board last season I saw at least 5 alleged Earnie weekly wages, from £8k up to £25k - and every one reported as absolute gospel truth (?) from the most reliable 'insider' source ever!

Baz more than the money on this one...yes QPR wiil / would give him more a week than us,but we would offer him more playing time on a contract.

Sparkey is clever with what other benifits he could offer...this all comes down to how Bellers looks at the next 3 years.
For me if Bellers goes its a 50-50 call with us and QPR.

I would like to think that the pull of his family would give us the edge.

Also would QPR give him a 3 year deal?

The pull of his family is correct - but don't think that it can't be sorted out by both clubs ;)
The 3 year deal is the key to all this for us ( IMO ) - But let's not forget Bellers is still a Liverpool player.

Topcat,

What does this mean for the Bellamy deal?

Re: ' QPR Want Craig Bellamy '

Sat Jul 07, 2012 5:48 am

Means nothing re: Bellamy.

Park Ji Sung is being brought in as a central midfielder & occasionally a winger when required.

Bellamy is there to provide extra fire power.

Hopefully this week we'll know either way if he's interested or not.

i honestly feel that bellamy will not join qpr i think if we dont get him this season he will do the last year of his contract with liverpool and join us next season for free and end his career with us

I actually agree with you mate.

If he stays at Liverpool where Ted Rodgers (ex 321 host) seemingly wants him then its a win situation for Bellamy.

If he returns to Cardiff for sentimental & family reasons it is again a win situation for him.

If he goes to QPR he will be moving even further away from his family, higher living costs & with the knowledge of knowing he gave Cardiff fans his word he'd return & didn't. To me that's a burden. - no win situation.

Obviously it could be argued money is a major factor but I'm not so sure myself. I think it boils down to the fact he either wants to play regular Premiership football or CCC football with his home town club.

Simple as that :)

If he moves to QPR its for money reasons..QPR will pay his high wages plus they may offer liverpool a transfer fee..
