Hornets drop Heaton deal

Thu Jul 05, 2012 5:01 pm

New Watford owners looking elsewhere.

Sky Sports understands Watford have pulled out of a deal for Tom Heaton following the recent takeover of the club.

The Championship side had agreed terms with the former Cardiff City goalkeeper and he was due to be confirmed as a Hornets player this week.

Heaton was aware of the takeover when he held talks with Watford, but was told that he would be one of the first signings under the new regime.

However, they have now opted not to finalise the move, leaving Heaton to re-open talks with interested clubs.

Bit of a bind that, now the other clubs will know that they were second choice and if it was just for the money offered have Heaton over a barrel

No way to treat any player let alone one who gave so much for us last season Tom deserves better than that.

Ipswich must be a good shout. They are desperate for a quality keeper.

Personally I dont think it was about money with Watford. He wants to be no.1.

Tough luck for the lad. Hope he gets sorted.

I know he wants to play first team football but I'm amazed a club like Man City haven't come in for him as a cheap but quality backup to Joe Hart. He wouldn't get much game time but he could set himself up for life!

I wouldn't say he's prem quality as of yet, a few seasons as a regular keeper in the champ then hes ready. :ayatollah:

I posted last week...Tom Heaton would be a good number 2 at a premier league side, and if he was to go to another championship team,a team in the north east might be a good call..eg Burnley.

Good Luck to him...One of the nicest guys in footballl :ayatollah:

Lets be fair he could get into United or City. If you got a world class defence in front of you then anyone could have a chance in a way.

Lets be fair though how could he get into City/United. We all know he wouldn't start, Tom Heaton is nowhere near as good as David De Gea and Joe Hart.
