They will be replaced by machines.. Terminator T900's or something. In all honesty though, the way technology is moving forward the roll of humans in defence, warfair is becoming more and more obsolete. The future is drone aeroplanes, artillery, ships, subs rockets controlled by some nerd with a joystick and computer hundreds of miles away from the actual conflict.

Terrible news, but expected .
Massive hole in Defence financial budget.
So many pen pushing civil servants employed in the MOD, with civil service/union protection of jobs , that cannot be sacked.
Alleged there are more civil servants than soldiers/sailors/airmen in the MOD.
Computer weaponry needed, so cuts have to be soldiers.
Wrong in my opinion but the only way to make cuts.
Remember that many regiments are understaffed, some by several hundred men, so are basically undeployable.
It is estimated approx. 1/3 of army is sick/medically downgraded as well.

Sadly its the high earners that will be made redundant, good longlife soldiers and sergents, just the sort of men our young boys need in war zones.!!!!!!!!!
What a shabby way to treat loyal brave men and women.
Probably the best view on this subject came from our greatest enemy, Napoleon Bonaparte, who knew a lot about war. He said "The country that does not respect its own army will one day learn to respect someone else's"

It seems Napoleon is right! We've been respecting America's army for years.
