Burnley Jason Shackell bid considered by Derby County:-

Derby County are considering a new bid from Burnley for defender Jason Shackell, BBC Radio Derby reports.

The Rams have previously turned down four bids from three different clubs but are mulling over the latest offer, which is thought to in excess of £1m.

Leicester City and Cardiff City are also understood to be interested in the 28-year-centre-half.

Shackell joined the Rams from Barnsley last June and played every minute of all 49 games last season.

Thought he was a lot younger than 28, not sure he would add much to the squad unless Turner, Gerrard, Keinan and Blake all left. Never been impressed by a Derby or Barnsley defender when we've played them. Think Chambers would be a better acquisition.

He is actually nearly 29 so another one with no future resale value and not sure he is any better than what we already have.

Many people have mentioned that we were in for him on here, which is why I posted the story, but from what I recall of Carl's posts, he isn't supposed to be one of Malky's targets!

I can't see Malky getting rid of Turner and he's also got Hudson amongst his centre back options, who he only gave a new contract to a few months ago1

Personally, I think Malky is looking to bring in a tallish and more versatile centre back option, with Keinan, Gerrard and possibly Darcy available to make room for him!

Although I'm sure Malky would like to clear out at least a couple of the names I've mentioned ASAP, I'm hoping that he manages to sort out a deal for Richard Keogh quite soon, before his price soars, with the interest shown in him by us, Bristol City and now Leeds! :ayatollah:

Would rather Keogh both of similar quality but Keogh can play right back as well and making a better replacement for Gerrard or Keinan who I think will leave soon as he would offer more versatility than Shackell ;)
