Anthony Gerrard could be leaving Cardiff City


Bristol City are considering a move for Cardiff City defender Anthony Gerrard - if they miss out to the Bluebirds on number one target Richard Keogh.

Both Championship sides are keen to land Coventry defender Keogh, although neither club have come close the Sky Blues' valuation of £800,000.

Cardiff have had an initial bid turned down for Keogh, who has a year left on his contract, while Bristol's opening offer of £250,000 has also been rejected.

Coventry skipper Keogh tops Bristol City's wanted list, but manager Derek McInnes is prepared to look at alternative targets if the former Robins defender does not return to Ashton Gate four years after he left to join Carlisle United.


And Cardiff defender Gerrard, who struggled for first-team football last season, features high up on that list of potential signings, according to reports.

Cardiff boss Malky Mackay would be keen to offload Gerrard to their Severnside rivals if the Bluebirds can win the race for Keogh.

Keogh is understood to want a move away from relegated Coventry and is reported to be open to a return to former club Bristol.

Although Coventry boss Andy Thorn would wants to keep Keogh, finance is a concern and a bid in the region of £600,000 will probably be sufficient to tempt the Midlands club.
