As a Malaysian I must say the local perception was that Mr.Tan is very much an unpredictable capitalist. I Seconded OD's description of the kind of businessman he is. He has never knew anything or involved with any kind of sports business or programme so he never understand anything about tradition, heritage and the importance of supporters. He's a businessman, so he ABSOLUTELY wants his money back. Football in Malaysia is crap so he had never even try to invest in anything related to the local league. It was questioned to the current chairman, Mr.Chan Thien Gee in a local football TV programme on why hasn't Vincent Tan poured his money developing local football, as he had always putting up himself as a generous philanthropist, which I feel just a tax-evading, social-building programme scheme for his companies, to which the question wasn't answered, in fact he changed the topics and started talking about something else. The locals have the perception that Vincent Tan just wanted to enhance his reputation by putting money on some foreign club so the success-hungry Malaysian football fans would jump on the bandwagon and see him as a savior of sort. And the "forced trial" of the 2 Malaysian players are a common practice here, where people in power always flouting the law to get what they wanted. Thankfully, Malaysian national team FIFA ranking was so bloody low, lower than that of Nepal and Palestine who don't have a professional football league, that they can't get work permits to play in Britain. If not, Malky Mackay would have had a call by the man, asking them to be included in the first eleven. Football teams here were controlled by the royalties and people in the government and in a country where human rights records was questionable, I would say, I feared it would escalates to a foreign land. But to read Mamat's view of what an Asian feel about the color Red is ridiculous at best. He's a true stereotype Asian football supporter who don't really know the true meaning of a club's soul. Completely ignoring the fact that a football team belongs to it's local community, hence Cardiff City FC belongs to the people of Cardiff. If Tan wants a football team in Red and a dragon, form a football team himself in Kuala Lumpur, and he can do whatever he wants with it. And the colour change argument that it was changed once so it wasn't matter if it's being changed again, was naive. That was nearly hundred years ago, a lot of other clubs have been doing that in their early years. And to change the colour because they got an Asian owner is bullshit. Why it has got to do with Asian? If it was just by the fact it is owned by a Malaysian, then, the Singaporeans or the Indonesians or the Siamese won't care to support a Malaysian-owned team I must say. I don't know then how can you sell the brand in Asia. Has Venkys and Blackburn become a foothold brand in this part?. The fact that Red and Dragon has got something to do with Asia is NONSENSE. As an Asian myself, these superstitious belief of how a dragon and the colour red would make the team have more luck are laughable. I'm not a Vincent Tan hater, and I don't even care whether he's successful in his businesses or not, in fact why would I care about a team so many thousand miles away from my doorsteps? But as a football fan, I feel bad that this happened, especially by a fellow countrymen, that has upset people in another part of the world. I hope I won't get badgered if it happened one day that I would roaming around in a Cardiff backstreet and being found as a Malaysian! If there are CCFC supporters who still insists in having those money from VT and watching the team become successful, dream on, but you've been warned!

This is the second such comment I've had from a Malaysian by the way. The first one was -
I’m Malaysian and I can tell you that Vincent Tan is NOT a sports fan. He has also previous track record of selling investments suddenly – he did that with a telco he owned. He’s lousy at branding – all the shopping centres he is involved in don’t do well. Most importantly, he’s a crony of the ruling party leaders and made his fortune from shady deals. He did make a huge profit recently because he ended up with FB stock after buying Friendster. All in all not someone I would put much trust in.
JUST POSTING WHAT I SEEN
