Would be an excellent squad player, he wasn't that bad during his loan, wouldn't pay over £500k for him though :D :ayatollah:

Yeah would be not bad for a squad player, great delivery on him.

Not worth £20,000 a week, we paid him that last season, worth about £7,000 in my opinion.

Laurence is no more than an over rated championship squad player. We could do a lot better with the wages/fee

I thought he had a few crap games then a few great ones then 1 or 2 crap ones again.

A good player that looks like he gives 100% would be a good signing for rotation if we signed him for lesd that 500k but not the signing we need to go up!! :ayatollah:

Exactly.

Why doesnt this f*cking club ever learn. Its no wonder we are financially fucked when we pay steady eddie championship players premier league wages.

Wece got Whitts, Mutch, Cowie, Gunar, Mcphail, Kiss and Ralls. We dont need another midfielder in the "Safe" mould.

We need pace and creativity.

Is anyone on the priority list Carl or are we going to hear the same old line thats rolled out every transfer window?

^^^^ We've already spent £2m this window? What exactly are you complaining about?

I'd rather see kadeem Harris given a chance than slow boring Liam Lawrence, waste of wages and money he would be

He's far too slow and too inconsistent, we need speed and consistency and wont get it from him for sure.

Excellent player and I would welcome him back. I've said on numerous occasions that I was rather pleased when we signed him towards the end of last season. Unfortunately, there weren't too many games left and he'd been injured, but he still showed what he can do. Top Championship player, and isn't that what we need? He also provides a bit of bite to a midfield.

Top professional and would make a great squad member but I would prefer to see someone with pace and a bit of flair to run at defenders.

All the teams that go up seem to have that type of danger player, dare I say it, like a Nathan Dyer.

A good squad player, yes, but I wouldn't like to see Malky rely on him as a winger for the entire season.

Also hope Malky realises he is, in no way, a decent replacement for McPhail as a holding midfielder whilst he's out injured.

Yes, take him, but not for ridiculous wages like last season.

I want us to sign Messi but times you don't get what you want in life, sorry Liam but no thanks...

We had a poor squad last season and only 5 sub choices. Lawrence would be great with a full pre season. But we need some flyers and 2 strikers and a versatile defender.

Safe to say that earnie, gerrard, keinan won't be playing.
Plus Mcphail may have in and out issues with his illness plus whits and cowie need a rest on times.

Id have him for free but only on less than 10k week.. Decent squad player, but too inconsistent...

No fee and less than 10k a week then maybe, anything else then a no.

MIDFIELDER Liam Lawrence has revealed he would jump at the chance to return to Cardiff City on a permanent basis, as cash-strapped Portsmouth look to offload him!

Lawrence enjoyed a productive loan spell with the Bluebirds after joining last March from Pompey, scoring one goal in 15 appearances and helping the club into the play-offs.

The Republic of Ireland international is under contract at Fratton Park until 2014, but says Portsmouth would like him off their wage bill, and that Cardiff are interested in taking him back.

“If Michael Appleton (Portsmouth manager) needs me to stay at Portsmouth then, as club captain, I would lead by example and it would not be a problem,” said Lawrence.

“I am a Pompey player. But I also know every player is available and the club are looking for me to leave to reduce the wage bill. I accept that.

“Cardiff told me at the end of last season they are interested.

“I did okay there. I would not have played every game if I had not been doing well.

“When I went there I’d just come back from another calf problem, but I felt stronger in each game and it’s fine now, thank God. It was doing my head in.

“When I left I spoke to Malky Mackay and he said he was looking to take me back this season. Obviously I would be interested. I’m just waiting to see what develops.”

City manager Malky Mackay confirmed he is interested in Lawrence, but that he is also in no rush to conclude a deal.

Mackay said: “Liam is a great lad and influenced our team with his experience and quality when he came on loan last season.

“He is a player we may look to bring back, but he remains a Portsmouth player and for the moment we are working at other priorities.”

Meanwhile Craig Bellamy, linked with a return to Cardiff City Stadium, remains a target.

He is thought to be keen on finishing his club career with local team City and is due to have talks with Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers over his future.

“We’d love to have Craig back, but he’s a Liverpool player,” said Cardiff chief executive Alan Whiteley.

“We don’t know how it is going to pan out and it is for Craig and Liverpool to decide what they are going to do first. But if Craig decides he is going to leave Liverpool and Liverpool are prepared to let him go, then clearly we’d love to talk to him.”

Cardiff were also linked with a move for Newcastle United striker Leon Best, but he has opted to sign for Blackburn Rovers.
