A British international team is inevitable

Sun Jul 01, 2012 9:10 pm

Over the next fifty years. As four nations we're just too weak to compete. We will have to combine our resources to develop a playing style and to breed talent.

Agree completely with this.

Imagine if the England team that went to the Euros was supplemented with some of the best that the rest of the country had to offer.

Bellamy, Bale and Ramsey would have been a massive improvement to that team.

Would have given it the pace and ability on the ball that they sorely missed.

Also the talent drain that's facing Northern Irish football with any player of note invoking the Good Friday agreement ruling to switch allegiance to Republic would stop as anyone that was good enough for the British team would want to play at the very highest level.

I would be 100% for such an amalgamation.

hmmm I can't imagine the FA having any games not played at Wembley, they have a lifetimes worth of debt to pay off on the stadium and I can't see our footballing boards accepting all games played at Wembley only. Thats just the tip of the iceberg, soooo many reasons why not's its unreal.

We might end up with a country called England and Wales, but Scotland and Northern Ireland will be gone.

there's no way Bellamy or especially Ramsey would walk into the England team, maybe the squad at a push given some of their injuries

Gareth Bale on the other hand is already, in my opinion, one of the most talented 5/6 players in the world, just hope he can do the business even more consistently for both Spurs and more importantly Wales :ayatollah:

They would have walked into that squad they took to the Euros. Ramsey is far better than Henderson and Bellamy is far better than Downing.

How do you say that? Scotland will be independent within the next couple of years, and there is. No way that the FAW will give up their independence, and rightly so!!

true, but i also think that Henderson and Downing should never have gone, i personally would prefer Adam Johnson to both Downing and Bellamy, for example :ayatollah:

I am not sure how I'd feel if this did happen. I think it will happen but is a way off for now. It'll happen at some point in the far off future, Maybe by 2060.

It's not all about winning. I can't see it happening.

It would be a disaster if this happened.

I definitley wouldn't support such a team, and would switch my allegiance to the Republic of Ireland (and Scotland, if they were independent at the time it happened).

it is about survival. I can't see the three celtic nations competting at a decent enough level and England will worsen. (still qualify but never reach the last eight.

I can only see UEFA making the weaker nations qualify in order to get to the final European qualifying rounds liek they do in Asia. I can see Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales being in a minor qualifying stages with Leichtenstein etc.

This would make me stop watching international football. Can u imagine it now?! it would be the England team plus Bale and the English wouldn't never let us forget that.

It will not happen, the home nations will never give up their indipendence.
