NEW SIGNINGS - FURTHER DEBT?

Fri Jun 22, 2012 10:00 pm

Of course im excited by the signing of Mutch and the prospect of others joining him but something worries me and perhaps someone will be able to put me right. Until Tan clears Langston and transfers debt to equity aern't all these new big money signings just further debt ???

If this is the case then personally I would have preferred for us to wait to transfer debt and clear Langston before embarking on an extravagant spending spree and digging ourselves into a deeper hole. I would love to get excited by all this but I just have a horrible feeling that down the line this is going to blow up in our faces. Probably because we've been stung and lied to many times before. Just pray Tan really is a man of his word.

If our owners are looking to move away then why would they go further in debt?? VT is totally commited to theclub and I'm sure this is the first of Malky's signings. This boy is young, keen and leaving a good clubfor CCFC well done Malky I hope a few more or on the way.

yes i think at the moment they will go as further debt. However whilst i am sceptical about the whole conversion to equity and if it will happen ,i feel we have to invest. it may be some time before langstone is cleared and to leave our club exposed and to drop down the league would be a mistake. i feel like were at a point were we have to trust our owners or fail. if we dont buy new players and invest well undoubtably drop down the league gain less money from positional fishish in the league, and potentially be in more debt and could mean vt eventually gives up. if he pulls out even now were basically over as a club due to our current debts. So what harm is it really to invest a little and trust that they will convert it into equity, if they dont do that then well probably eventually close as a club, if they do then well be relitivly debt free .

Is could be seen as a debt or an asset, depends on how he performs I guess.

At out current debt levels we wouldn't survive if tan pulled the plug anyway. Tan won't pull the plus because he would lose a lot of money.

Good question, think VT is well aware of it and hes just going to get the squad and sort it afterwards, hopefully. :ayatollah:

I hope you're right. Just won't be comfortable until he does! One thing is now for sure, the pressure to go up this year is enormous. How long will Tan continue to support the club if we don't go up? My worry is that he is waiting to see whether we go up before converting debt to equity. That would be a smart move on his part but potentially devastating for us.

Tan is just lending us money. Surely, after all the disruption he has caused, Tan can pay off Sam? Our debt is growing by the day. Very uneasy about the whole set up.

Thats my thinking. Hate being so negative but certain things dont feel right to me. I see it all as a promotion or bust scenario. I will be very surprised if Tan converts debt to equity before then. More than happy to be proved wrong and eat humble pie on this though! For me Tan should have sorted Langston and converted debt to equity before even considering a re-brand let alone implementing it.

Hard to argue with that at present.

I disagree, Tan is putting money up for players etc with a view to convert debt to equity, why would he walk away? Have the club got enough assets to pay him what he is owed if the club was dissolved? There is no winners if the club goes down the pan (except the jacks maybe) which is what will happen if Tan walks away, nothing to worry about in that respect in my opinion. Tan is a billionaire with experience of making things work, he isn't going to walk away losing millions, unless the fans push him away that is!

Re: NEW SIGNINGS - FURTHER DEBT?

the club does have some revenue streams such as sponshorship, st sales and such like so im sure that all goes into the equation when talking of budget....it wouldnt just be a 1m loan for a player.

Re: NEW SIGNINGS - FURTHER DEBT?

From how I see it clearing the Langston debt payment overheads, clearing rent fees from training ground through owning our own and increasing revenue streams is all about balancing the books to become profitable.

Until then, anything we spend is essentially increasing our debt......from buying office stationary for pennies or players for millions.

Simply, we're fecked financially with our current operating accounts. (Of course, not that I've been privvy to view any balance sheet etc etc )

We are currently on a Leeds type of gamble, but on the championship stage and not champions league.

If this fails, I doubt we'd cope with it as well as Leeds due to the difference in the size of our clubs.

On a positive note..........Feck the debt, sign them up Malky and get us promoted!! Because it's fast becoming more a necessity for survival more than anything else.
Looking forward to seeing Jordon pressure for a starting place.

Why look at the dark side, try the bright side. This boy could be worth upwards of 5 Million in a very short time, the lads only 20, more an investment than dead wood. Oh by the way I think Tan is a little wiser than throwing his millions away, so brighten up for gods sake. This time last year our squad was worth 2-3 million, Now with Mason, Turner, Whitts, Ralls, Harris,Mutch, etc etc. we could well have a squad worth 20 Million + very soon.

Good point. Should have a big chunk of asset value in this squad assuming, which I think it will, the value in the youngsters will increase a lot.

It's exciting to finally have some promising youngsters which have a chance to see play for more than just a couple of months. Almost makes up for the crying shame of not being able to see Ramsey play for us properly.

Obviously a big difference in the new management approach.

I dont want to sound negative but i genuinely feel there are some scary legitimate questions that need answering otherwise we could be sleepwalking into financial meltdown. At the moment this is all one huge Leeds style gamble and if we don't go up soon what next? Will Tan continue to pump money in??? Will he convert debt to equity?? Who knows but these are scenarios that we should be concerned with and shouldnt just follow on with blind faith.

Its all very well saying these players are assets and we can sell them on for millions but as Brum have just found out with Mutch, when other clubs know youre screwed financially you will virtually accept any price to get money into the club.

He is a man of his word. A few weeks back he said in a statement that we would be playing in blue this forthcoming season.

Oh wait....

Following whats happened with previous owners you would have thought that as a fan base we would be seeking clarification on certain issues that don't add up. Not flag burning protests but a well set out agenda done in a professional and respectful manner. I'm amazed that so many of our fans don't think we should be doing anything of the sort and should just carry on with total blind faith. Sam and Risdale didnt follow up on their promises and the club was on the verge of going under if Tan does likewise then how on earth is a championship club with debts of over £100m going to survive? Everything that is being done suggests to me that he is hedging his bets and will only fully commit to clearing all debt when he knows he has the guaranteed pay day of the premier league. Until then I fully expect us to carry on accruing debt and for him to keep fobbing off paying off Langston.

Tan Knows full well that he has his money covered, Langston will get what Tan says when Tan says he is the one in the driving seat, he is trusting his Manager to put his money in the transfer Market and build a Squad of Millions not like last year when our Squad was worthless, We are not lke Birmingham our owners have finance,Tan can call the tune when it comes to transfering debt to Equity, pay Langston off etc etc, at the moment he has the day to day running to worry about along with providing his Manager with the finance to compete. Thats exactly what he is doing. Promotion will be a bonus, and a bigger bonus to Tan if Langston are settled, expect it to be done soon.
