MEETING WITH OWNERS CALLED FOR BY THE TRUST.

Thu Jun 21, 2012 10:26 am

An influential Cardiff City fans’ group has called for a meeting with the club’s owners after its members voted against the change of home shirts from blue to red.

A survey of Cardiff City Supporters’ Trust (CCST) members saw 54.7% vote against the move to red, with 43.8% backing the change.

Around 90% of the members said supporters had not been consulted adequately over the changes. And 80.4.% said they wanted more information from the club on the investment proposals.

Tim Hartley, chairman of CCST, said: “It is clear that our members feel that the club have failed to consult properly with our fans. The majority of our members are against the switch from blue to red, and the feedback we have had is that many of those willing to change to red do so reluctantly.

“The club now needs to reflect very carefully on the views of some of its most loyal supporters. What is clear is that fans feel the club failed to consult them properly before such a radical change. We believe that as a minimum, all season ticket holders should have been consulted in advance.

“The results again highlight the need for elected supporter representation on the board of Cardiff City Football Club. The voice of the supporter needs to be heard loud and clear to avoid the alienation of some of the club’s most loyal and long-standing fans.

“There is supporter representation on the board of Swansea City and it works very well. We believe the owners and the board must look at this as an option in the future.

“Formal consultation would have avoided the embarrassing debacle over the last few weeks. While supporters are pleased at the proposed investment in the club, they have still not received a full explanation for the need to rebrand alongside the additional funding.”

Mr Hartley welcomed the prospect of the Bluebirds appointing a supporter liaison officer before the start of next season, under new Uefa rules.

He added: “This, and the fans consultation announced by the club last week, are moves in the right direction and we look forward to a meaningful and constructive dialogue on behalf of our members.

“We are writing to the chairman, Dato Chan Tien Ghee (TG) and Mr Vincent Tan, to invite them to meet Trust members and other fans at the earliest opportunity.”

Keith Morgan, Trust board member and a football finance expert, also said the results showed the “need for greater transparency” from the club and its owners.

He said: “The absolutely crucial question is that after the Langston matter has finally been resolved, will all the loans introduced by the main Malaysian investors be converted into shares? If not, more debt will be piled onto the club which would be a continuing concern.”

Influential my arse!

Not knocking what they are doing because I couldn't be bothered with it all - but if such a small 'select' group came to me as owner and requested a meeting, I'd send one of my staff (one of the groundstaff) - oh that's just what happens!

The club should of asked the views of its season ticket holders at least they could of had a vote on the re branding and a more fair realistic conclusion would have been reached in terms of weather you agree or not with the re branding.

They the club that is just did it without finding out what us fans thought or if we had any other ideas such as the badge change etc.

As a result we now have divided fans and its here to stay that way and I think what ever happens in a football club they have always got the fans on board but not are football club.On conclusion that is what the owners have done to this club they have divided the fans and that is the worst thing they could ever done.

Not many people are respecting each others views instead its a long standing debate on which fans are right and which ones are wrong and this will run on and on and on.

People are now saying the supporters trust is only a small representation of us fans and yes it is but at least they are trying within ther own members to find out the feelings of its members something Cardiff City football Club didnt do. :ayatollah:

My personal feeling is the club has let the fans down in creating this rift and the anger felt and the frustration of not having a voice in any of it is shambolic. In my eyes I dont want any re branding I loved my club how it was but they dont care about the likes of fans feelings and I cant wait until they are gone. One big mess and they did it not us fans.

You are not respecting other peoples opinion just your own mate .ffs just move on.What if I said ffs stand up for your club ?

we then go around in a big circle of bickering with each other only to go around in circles with no end to the debate which would turn into an argument .

What ever side you are on you have to admit the Malaysians have divided us fans and that is very very bad.

Fair play then mate if we all wake up and see what the bigger picture is then at least we are moving forward in all this.Us FANS need to be united in supporting are club but we are not at all .

They problem is how do we fix it? I dont no the answer to it maybe some could E MAIL the club and ask them how we do it.

A club with divided fans is shit and embarrassing god knows what its gonna be like at the ccfc stadium with all the shit going on.

STOP arguing and wake up and see the bigger picture ffs we are divided and what ever way u look at it that is now what we should be debating with the club or shall we just argue for the next god knows how many years think about it at least. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:
