Whenever I manager Cardiff I either do really well like you've said above or really badly and get sacked.

Although I had a good first 3 months in charge one time, then Marshall was out for the season and Heaton couldn't save a thing so I almost missed out on playoffs.

Re: FM 12

I always send the club into financial meltdown. I have a good start, score a lot of goals un untill October/November then someone gets injured (Miller/Conway/Turner/Earnie usually), then I find myself out of both cups, low crowds, no money to spend and drawing most of my matches to slip out of the playoffs. Then they keep me in the job because I beat the season expectation, but with NO money to spend. Vicious circle...

Currently 5th in League 1 with Torquay in my second season. Not a lot of money to spend but if I can stay in the playoffs untill January I can push on (expectation was avoid relegation  )

Yea i get you. ive been using the loan market tbh as thats all the malaysians will give me ive spent my 750k budget so scouting about for freebies. although ive had a major backroom staff clear out and downloaded some new formation/tactics offline to import so trying diffrent things out atm only had the game a week odd as my championship manager had run its course and bet taken a hammering over the years

If you wnat to get rid of the Malaysians then you just ahve to convinvce them to buy the stadium.

Once that's doen there'll be a new £30 million debt in the club and TG with bugger off leaving Steve Borley in charge. He's even tighter but somehow has £60 million lying around to invest in the club every season.

That happened my attempt except I finished 4th and lost in the play off semis to Brighton.

Then my game ballsed up and I tried to abandon Cardiff for recently relegated Bolton but it wouldn't let me sign for them so I joined Forest instead. Got bored of them as Shteve had sold all their good players and brought crap in.

Burnley seems to be a good club to manage.

They have no debt, 12million in cash lying around and they offered me £5.5 million in January to win the league.

God no.

I'm in the year 2021, not sure if any of the starting line up are still playing from when I got promoted

Whitts is part of my backroom team though.

I did have Ledley and Matthews when I won a few of my league title and I think when I won the champions league they were in the squad too.

How do you know if the owner takes money out of the club? As Torquay I've made a few profits and the owner is as tight as a ducks arse. Will it let me know or do I find out myself? Also, how do I find out how much money is lying around? I'm useless when it comes to the owners etc.. I'm just there to win matches I think

Go onto Finances.

It's a tab under the boardroom tab.

As for taking money out of the club it's only happened once and it specifically says. I think it came up with a news item saying "cardiff share dividend of profits with shareholders" or something.

If you do a conference team i'd advise you not to do it as Darlington. For me it seemed like a good challenge untill I realised they only had youth players who couldn't cut the league, plus with absolutely no money to spend and nobody coming to the games. Yet they still have high expectations of a mid table finish

Currently in my 2nd season with Cardiff, got promoted to the Prem! won the championship on 102 points. I signed Cheikh Tiote from newcastle for 6.6M and spent a hell of a lot on wages. Hes playing absolutely dreadful for me!! everyone i try to sign either wants 60K a week wages which i do not have or the club wants 30M haha, need some signings pronto! Currently 14th after 8 games.

I had three very poor seasons in the prem.

Then I signed Macheda in January for 1.8million and he scored 18 goals in 18 games and fired me into 4th place. Was sorted from then on.

Re: FM 12

Wed Jun 20, 2012 9:32 pm

sell off the likes gerrard, mcphail, quinn, parkin, heaton (only because marshalls ratings are better and he moans otherwise)

always play the target man poacher together with little and large.

bring in craig dawson, transfer listed, look at loans if dont want to buy.

and then look at under 18 year olds transfer listed "gael banmagara" or however you spell it from coventry, loan out.

if you get promoted look at mardid, barca, AC milan, inter ect ect all the giants and look at the players they released, i signed Seedorf free, Maxi Lopez, Heinz, Craig Gordon, all on free to name but a few.

good thing is, even if they turn out to be rotational players, sell off in january, for funds. i did this, and in my first season i finished 10th in the league, next season had daniel sturridge, and some german guy, currently 8th in january.

Re: FM 12

Sounds good mate, ive sold them all! ive brought in Lallana, Pitman, craig and hacket from millwall, Tiote and suazo, im not doing the best this season! finding it hard.

Re: FM 12

Does anyone feel like me about not being sure whether to get FM13 because we will have to manage ourselves playing in red? I suppose I will still get FM13 as I can go a lower league team and work my way up which will be a different challenge and more rewarding than dominating with City every season.

On my current save I am playing a narrow 4-1-2-1-2 diamond system and I focus passing through the middle. I find when you play with width you're too open and concede too many goals. So my team is a back 4 all set to defend, a holding midfielder set as an anchor man, 2 centre midfielders, an attacking midfielder and two strikers, one set as an advanced forward and the other set as a poacher. I play short passing through the middle with a slowish tempo, I find with a faster tempo passes get rushed and I give possession away too cheaply.

I found out you can download the Football Manager Editor from Steam. It allows you to basically change anything, as well as kit colour and badge.

try to play your midfielders (center) box to box "BBM" they'll run like mad, get worn out but will offer great protection and assissting on the attack.

if you can buy pace

as for editor, i always do it, i sometimes add a 3rd kit for cup competitions ect, so next season HOME SHALL BE BLUE, AND THE MALAYSIANS WILL BE GONE
