http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-18496396I read the above article last night and it got me thinking about the whole re-branding fiasco. If there is any truth in the article then surely the 'lucky' red strip would be best served in the area where it is needed most....away from home, as that is where most teams have less success?!?
My personal thoughts are that the club could have gone about the whole episode in a completely different manner, achieved a similar result and come out of it with a little dignity and respect and without upsetting the loyal fanbase that Cardiff City FC has/had.
Appealling to a wider market and attracting new customers is paramount to the success of any business, but not at the total disregard of it's current loyal customers, if your local shop/pub/restaurant etc treated it's customers the way Cardiff City FC has treated their customers then they probably wouldn't have any customers. This is where CCFC have you over a barrel, you choose your club and it's yours for life, through good and bad, thick and thin, you form a bond with it, you love it, you would even fight for it, and CCFC realise this, they know that you're not going to say "F*ck You, I'm off to watch Swansea play instead", so they carry on and do whatever they like, safe in the knowledge that the majority of people will be back there at the start of the season.
The saddest part about this whole fiasco is the way they've divided the supporters, Cardiff Fan fighting Cardiff Fan, red vs blue, and who said there was no 'colour prejudice' at Cardiff City

We should try to understand the reasons people are choosing to be pro-red or pro-blue before chastising them. I can understand why people are accepting the changes, the way I see it is, if I was in serious financial difficulty and was at risk of having my house repossessed, and some serious investor came to me and offered to pay-off my mortgage but said I would have to paint the outside and put up an advertising board on the side of the house, then I would do it, I wouldn't be happy but I would do what I have to do to survive.
This is the first year I haven't looked at the fixture list with really enthusiasm whilst planning my weekend breaks to coincide with Cardiff away games, this I hope will change, there is still a few weeks left before the start of the season so we will see
But for now, whichever camp you have your feet in, be it red or blue, just remember the chant....
...WE ARE CAAAAARDIFF CITY, CAAAAARDIFF CITY FC!!!!!
