Mon Jun 18, 2012 8:55 pm

Is the rumour going round Facebook......

Would you be happy with that?

NO. £750k maybe. He wouldn't exactly set the league alight would he

I think Pompey would ask for a bit to get the money.
Id say its the highest id go if we needed him. :ayatollah:

Nope, did not impress me last season. Then again he was lacking match practice was he not? Reckon he will be a gamble.

Re: £1million for Liam Lawrence ?

I like him in the side but think £350-500k is the mark..

Re: £1million for Liam Lawrence ?

Mon Jun 18, 2012 9:05 pm

Nope.

A decent player, but as many noticed last season, we're in need of pace on the wings.

Feck that, he's ok but far from a million pound player, 250k max.......

Re: £1million for Liam Lawrence ?

Mon Jun 18, 2012 9:06 pm

No fecking chance is he worth 1million quid!

Good squad player for us, hardly the electric winger we are craving. 250k + decent chunk of wages and everyone's a winner.

Re: £1million for Liam Lawrence ?

Mon Jun 18, 2012 9:07 pm

Far better players on free, keith andrews for one, and Liam Lawrence is on stupid wages.

If we pay 1mil and 18k a week that hes on at pompey then I will be dumbfounded

Re: £1million for Liam Lawrence ?

Mon Jun 18, 2012 9:07 pm

No way. A free at best!

Mon Jun 18, 2012 9:13 pm

Surely with their problems he'll be on a free, they must be desperate to get him and a fe others off theire wage bill.

Re: £1million for Liam Lawrence ?

Mon Jun 18, 2012 9:19 pm

500k tops and 8-10k wage a week max.

Re: £1million for Liam Lawrence ?

Mon Jun 18, 2012 9:19 pm

Isn't it 7 subs again this season? I think if we can get him for £500k it's worth a go. I'd prefer Conway to start, whoever we get this summer

Re: £1million for Liam Lawrence ?

If he is available on a free and reduces his wages by around half then maybe.

If we spend a penny on that fella, well,, we really are going backwards.Things are bad enough as they are!

Its signing players like him the reason we are a club 70mil plus in debt

true so freebees and £6 an hour wage max for any player should suite us ok? then wont get any more debt!! :D

Re: £1million for Liam Lawrence ?

pompey surely just want him off the wage bill so im pretty sure we could get him for an "undisclosed" amount
not worth more than 10k a week at this point, would be a decent squad player

He's not worth a fee, no better than weve already got.

I thought we were going to improve the current squad???

Chill out, it's only a humour.
I can't see anyone paying a fee for him that's anywhere near 1m

I'm shocked by the comments slating him. Lawrence was by far one of our best players once he caught up with match fitness, I would have given him a few man of the matches towards the end of the season. He's not worth a million or the 18k a week, but I can't believe you're slating him like this!

Re: £1million for Liam Lawrence ?

Mon Jun 18, 2012 10:08 pm

I'm hardly slating him, I've just said the same as you, not worth the fee or the wages.
A free on about 8k a week maybe.

He was decent in some games when he played wide but I honestly believe that was because of our lack of wide options and being used to seeing us to play so narrow.
In any case we should be looking to improve the squad not stay static and pace in a wide area is what is really needed.

LOL

£350K at best

What a waste of 1m that would be, no pace no flair and can't beat the defender so no

I wasn't disagreeing with you in particular, but others in this thread are slating him. Lawrence was a leader and has a quality end product, he was much better on the wing when he caught up with fitness, there's no need for him to beat a man when he can deliver the crosses he can and I would be glad to see him on the right wing for us this season as long as we can get him for a reasonable price and reasonable wages. I agree we will need a pacey tricky winger on the left if Lawrence is on the right mind, but I believe we need a Giggs/Beckham balance as two short, tricky, pacey wingers would be too light weight for us in a 4-4-2 system and we would lose too many midfield battles imo. Two short, pacey, tricky wingers would be fine if we play 4-5-1 mind like Swansea.

Thing is a good cross is fine but if we don't have someone to get on the end of it, then it's pointless.

Personally I think we need Pacey direct wide players capable of beating players and getting shots off.
