New Kit in Club Shop

Mon Jun 18, 2012 3:15 pm

Just seen the new kit home and away that the club now have in the club shop on two mannequin dummies, the badge looks truly awful, it looks cheap and nasty, the kits look okay if the blue kit was home and the away kit was away, but its going to look mighty strange with the"Bluebirds" running out in a red kit next season now i have just seen the kit in the flesh so to speak, i think people will wonder which way we are playing for quite a few games.
i am afraid with "that" badge on the kit, it looks what it is, rushed, cheap and nasty, oh well i guess though now we are in red we are bound to romp through this league and spend tens of millions on top players ...NOT :ayatollah: :old: :ayatollah:

Simon, Is it true what I am hearing the Red kit will be For Sale end of July, but no date yet for the Blue Kit ?

I have seen the kits, they are without doubt an Embarrassment to our club and that badge is the lowest of the low, No way can surely anyone buy that kit with that Brains Brewery Beer mat on it.

Simon, you were a Director of Cardiff City during the Rick Wright era, whats your honest views on all this ?

Long story Allan Whitley/Julian/Carl etc all tried and I mean tried their best, but Tan would have none of it, ask Carl about it tonight, how much they tried and thought they had succeeded.

Even Gwyn thought they had.

Shame, that badge is terrible! :(

I went down the club shop last week and bought last seasons away strip (no blue home one's left) for a £10.

I don't usually buy football tops but i wanted something with OUR real badge on and i will wear it to every home game now.

Annis,
I am not 100% sure if the blue kits come out at the same time as the red kits at the end of July, however i will say this, after over 30 years in marketing and being a director of a local marketing company, i think the club have dropped a massive one on all this re branding, you can not re brand history and tradition, Cardiff City are the Bluebirds, they play in Blue and there badge should be a Bluebird, we never have been or never will be (I hope ) the Dragons, we are not red we are blue.
Cities in general have a colour, that there sporting teams adopt, such as there football and Rugby teams, Cardiff as a City is Blue, Like Leeds is White, and Newcastle is Black, Sunderland Red, the only time this changes is if you have more than one team in your City, and even then you have for instance the Red half and the Blue half of Mersyside, or Manchester or Sheffield for example.
The whole sorry state of affairs could have been handled far more profesionaly and alot better, the badge i am afraid is nothing more thatn a sad joke, a laughing stock of modern day football. :ayatollah: :old: :ayatollah:

Its an interesting point though. I am aghainst the whole thing to the point where i was raving about giving my season ticket back etc etc. I think like anything though time will be a healer and as usual as a city fan it seems we just have to swallow every bitter pill and like it.

Id be interested to see if anyone gets any grief over wearing red or blue on matchdays. The worst thing is how the club have turned its own fans the lifeblood of the club against each other. Does not make any sense at all

Just a quick question for anybody that can answer?

is any of our badges copyrighted. i seem to remember that Arsenal changed to a copyright badge to "maximise potential"

could somebody like Billy the badge do a range of merchandise reflecting the old badge?

I am sure that it could be a winner

just a thought limited range (no mankinis).

Wouuld make a point

Personally It's the badge issue rather than the kit, gets my goat as it were. Not that i will buy any red Merchandise of any sort.

Maybe Messrs Williams and Abraham can club together with other successful local businessmen and buy the club!

Wonder what colour the shirts would be?

Funny you identify Leeds with "White" as that is not their original colour and not "The Whites" is not their original nickname.

Leeds Utd were "Rebranded" in 1961 when their the manager Don Revie changed their yellow & blue kits to the all white because he wanted to "emulate" Real Madrid, the club also dropped it's then nickname "The Peacocks". The club crest was also dropped and no crest was worn on the shirts and 3 years later a crest with an "Owl" was introduced before later being replaced simply by L.U.F.C, then a crest which became known as the smiley crest, then a disc with and there have 5 different versions since.

Although the change was not well supported at the time this was followed by a period of indifference then the club started climbing the league and no one gave a toss. Plastic supporters eh, but it is an object lesson that a football club can rebrand and those changes can be embraced by the club supporters.

Just like our supporters will in my opinion.

Re: New Kit in Club Shop

Forgot to mention Leeds Utd were nicknamed "The Peacocks" because their ground was called "The Old Peacock Ground", not good enough for a club wanting to emulate Real Madrid so the ground was renamed "Elland Road"

Rebranding changing club colours, crest, nickname even the ground name who would have thought it eh. ;)

Great point Castleblue :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Thing that also pisses me of is the so called True Blue brigade who call anyone who has no objections to City wearing Red plastics..now these F**kwits are only just out of pampers and hark back for the days when they can say they took Millwall    they think they are the lifeblood of the club ,well we can do without their ill informed opinions and so called loyalty .

My abiding memory of Wright is his Deidre Barlow glasses signing the club over to the kids at barry island holiday camp.
what a tosser he was.

Do you think any supporters wearing the new red shirts will get any grief?

From reading this board the last 2 weeks I can well see it happening myself.

Both sides seem quite vociferous over the whole thing.

Re: New Kit in Club Shop

Tongue in cheek username aside, I wonder what people will buy next year - the blue kit is not as nice as last year's and the badge, well....bloody hell.

Looks like the CCFC retro section will be having a lot of sales maybe? God knows what I'll do, maybe get a red shirt for the novelty value (in a few years time it may have "retro" / infamy appeal - IE Arsenal away 1991!!) but make a point of wearing a blue fleece / coat / jacket over it whenever I fo wear it. The 2011/12 shirt will have to last a few years yet I think!!

It doesn't take a genius to work out the answer to that one

Mind you in 10 years time Annis will be like me, size 5XL ;) So you can bet for sure neither of us will be buying red shirts even if we wanted to....
