He did change the badge to the St Davids Cross and there wasn't this much fuss back then because we were successful and splashing the cash in which we are still to pay back.

No is the answer but only because he had nothing to do with our club in the 90's. ;)

He did however want to change the club colours to green and rename the club Cardiff Celts.

Until Annis sorted him out.

But wasn't there an idea to relocate Wimbledon to Cardiff in the 1990's and call them Cardiff Dons?

The design I can agree with.
But I prefer the welsh dragon to the St David's flag and much prefer it saying Cardiff City on it.

If I had tI chose one bad, this current mess or Sams mess if go for the current mess.

spot on,

most the fans would trade the shirt colour to be on the inside of hammans wall in the blink of a second,
without a second thought

Hammam had ideas to change but listened to the fans. He changed the badge but the bluebird was still the main feature, not an after thought like our current badge which now has the dragon as the main feature. Hammam also kept us blue and banged on about us getting welsh players in to play with pride and passion, and this rubbed off with the support he got. Hammam made mistakes which was his downfall, but how you can compare what Hammam did to our current situation is absurd in my opinion. Hammam showed the ambition to take us places, we stayed in blue and we kept our bluebird. Hammam has also waited patiently for years for us to pay him back the money we owe him, and he isn't charging any interest on this Langston debt. I think Hammam genuinely cares about our club, but the Malaysians just care about turning us red so they can in the future sell us to some Chinese business, or a company like Vodafone.

Would you be happy with a bigger bluebird and a smaller dragon but the words Cardiff City removed again?
I certainly wouldn't.

We had Bluebirds written on our badge though didn't we? I was completely fine with that and I bought a few shirts with the badge on. I will definitely not be buying a red shirt however, even if we eventually get a nice badge, you will never see me in a red City shirt.

Re: If sam hamman had changed

Personally preference I guess. I thought it was a disgrace removing the name Cardiff City and just putting Bluebirds onto a Leeds shamed logo.

I couldn't care what shirt you wear

Re: If sam hamman had changed

He listened when the fans kicked up about him 'uniting' South Wales, it was never going to work. But the badge change wasn't as radical either, it kept the bluebird as a focal point and had a St Davids flag, which is Welsh so there was some form of compromise. If it had had Cardiff City FC on it instead of Bluebirds it would be a lot better.

Re: If sam hamman had changed

Mon Jun 18, 2012 10:34 pm

I suppose it is personal preference with everyone having differing feelings and opinions. For me, the bluebird was still on the badge as our main symbol and our nickname was written on the badge so I had no problem with it, but I appreciate everyones different.

You can hardly get more welsh than the welsh dragon???

They did later (I think PR) changed it from bluebirds to Cardiff city onto the Sam badge.

Personally I can relate much more to the idea of the new badge than I ever could to Sams Leeds looking badge. It's just a shame it looks so shit.

Of course you would,, Because you are obviously part of the new brigade, because you cant see that the current owners are full of shite, deceivers that have taken just two seasons to almost double the debt that Sam supposed to have done in 7 years, and Sam had promotions for his mess, the new owners 0 for their 45M debt?? Your funny as fook!!

Definitely everyone ignores that, if he had been given permission to move them that could have been the end of Cardiff city, but he wasn't allowed and the rest is history...........

Sam wanted to change our kit to green, but hey the fans stood up for this Club and he backtracked. Yes he did change the badge but right in the middle was a great big Bluebird.

So it's all about size then? if the bluebird was bigger and the dragon smaller you would be happy If they took the clubs name off the badge?
To me that wipes away much more history than the size of the key elements of the badge.
