CARDIFF TO SIGN MCGINN?

Sun Jun 17, 2012 4:25 pm

Out of contract at watford this summer. Signed for a nominal 50k from St Mirren, McGinn impressed for us before sustaining a serious injury which has kept him out until now. He regained fitness towards the end of last season but did not make an appearance. He has so far refused our offers of a new contract and has said he would not be averse to joining Mackay at cardiff.

A midfielder, best played just behind the striker.

I always thought he was a bit lightweight, especially when he first joined us. However in the months prior to his injury he improved a lot and struck up a great connection with Danny Graham. He, Graham and Buckley pretty much destroyed QPR when we beat them 3-1 at Loftus Road in the year they went up.

Rumour has it we are not prepared to offer him the terms he wants due to his injury, basically I think perhaps we don't know if he is still up to due to the injury. He is still young so that is on his side.

I would say based on previous form you would be getting a good player, but we don't know how the injury has affected him. He is fit again now but would probably require a long pre-season. However he is free, so thats always a bonus.

Apparently Malky has a decent budget so no freebies for us this year. :ayatollah:

would have done him much better to go to you than to sit of the bench at bolton i reckon. still i think the whole hoo-hah with that was us trying to get a bit more dough for him.

This budget is for transfers, fees and wages.
Players can come in for free if they are what MM wants.

Dont let this money thing and price tag pre-judge how good or bad a potential player may be.

The position hornet fan explains is what we needed last season though.

We were missing some quality, pace and penetration in the final 3rd :ayatollah:

i think he would be a good signing for you if he still has it, i certainly would not mind him staying with us but it seems rather unlikely now.

Would be surprised if we didn't go for him, young, Scottish the only thing that would seal the deal further is if he was secretly Malky's son.

of course we did. we also flouted him to every club in the premier league for the £3m you offered plus 500k. bolton took the bait, it is quite well known that he was never on his way to cardiff that day. It was all a bit of a ruse to make others play their cards.

I didn't accept him, as I'm a Cardiff fan and I'm not high up in Watford FC nor do I work for them.
