The reason for not being picked for Scotland was due to not playing the lone striker role particularly well. If you've a formation where he can spend his entire time in opponents penalty box, he'll get goals. If not, it's like playing with ten men.

Did have a good partnership with Miller but failed to deliver in a lot of big games. Struggled at Boro though had a decent spell at Forest. Not sure if I would bring him in to be honest.

No coincidence both Miller and Boyd got hatfuls in the SPL but since then both have failed miserably in the championship.
