Veteran striker Emile Heskey is prepared to drop down to the Championship, but says he has yet to hold talks with new Hull City manager Steve Bruce.

Heskey is available on a free transfer after being released by Aston Villa and he has been tipped to become Bruce's first signing at the KC Stadium.

The former England international played under Bruce at Birmingham City and Wigan Athletic, but has yet to make a decision regarding his future.

"Steve Bruce is a very good manager and we have worked together in the past. We get on very well," Heskey told the Hull

"He was the manager who took me to Birmingham and then I was at Wigan when he arrived there.

"The last time we spoke was at a football dinner, but obviously that was at a time when Steve was not managing a club, and I have not spoken to him since.

"At present, I have not had any contact with any clubs about next season as of yet, and I have not even thought about making any decisions, as I am just enjoying a break and a holiday first.

"However, I will not be hanging up my boots and I will look to get things sorted out after I have had a holiday.

"At present, I am not ruling anything out though, and I certainly would not rule out playing in the Championship, as it is a very good division."

strange one is emile.not a natural goal scorer but on his day very hard to play against.top players like rooney and owen love his attributes.trouble is his day isn,t that often.desire would be the key here for me.when he was at blues he was a grafter.no one could question that.

I personally think he would be a great foil for Kenny Miller and would do a great job in the championship. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Win-win. We are already a laughing stock and we won't have any harm and Heskey will have a club.

and he would be a bloody lot more useful then gestede,...

and even milller when he isn't scoring, we need a ruthless raw talented quality striker this season to bang in the goals
