Mido discusses move to Barnsley
Former Tottenham Hotspur and Ajax striker Mido has held talks with Championship side Barnsley.
However, it is understood that a deal has yet to be agreed between the former Egypt international and the South Yorkshire club.
Tykes boss Keith Hill is away on holiday but is interested in the 29-year-old free agent.
Ahmed 'Mido' Hossam factfile
Mido has played for 10 clubs in seven different countries.
He was dropped by Egypt for six months in September 2004 after claiming he was injured before playing for Roma 24 hours later.
Mido was thrown out of the Egyptian team at the 2006 Africa Cup of Nations and suspended for six months after reacting badly to being substituted.
He joined Egyptian side Zamalek for a third time in January 2011 but was unable to play for eight months because of a registration error.
Mido was released by Egyptian side Zamalek in May after falling out of favour with boss Hassan Shehata.
The former Middlesbrough, Wigan and West Ham striker left Zamalek after a dispute between the club's board and Shehata over the player's place in the team.
Shehata initially quit his post citing the board's refusal to meet his demands for changing the squad, but was reinstated after Mido was released.
He made 114 appearances in English football, scoring 28 goals, between 2005 and 2010.
However he failed to score in nine games for his last team in England, West Ham, during a loan spell at the end of the 2009-10 season.
