Cardiff Look To Have Missed Out On Bjorn Sigurdarson!

Sat Jun 16, 2012 12:01 am

CARDIFF City look to have missed out on another of their summer targets with Icelandic international striker Bjorn Sigurdarson set to sign for Championship rivals Wolves!

The Bluebirds had been monitoring the 21-year-old’s situation at Norweigian club Lillestrom with manager Malky Mackay looking to add firepower to his squad.

But Sigurdarson’s agent, Jerry de Koning, has confirmed a £2.4m deal has been agreed with Wolves, who, following relegation from the Premier League are now managed, by Stale Solbakken.

It is claimed Sigurdarson (pictured right) will stay at Lillestrom until July 13 before undergoing a medical at Molineux three days later.

De Koning is concerned by the fact that it leaves Sigurdarson forced to play at Lillestrom until the end of the Norweigian season with the risk that an injury could scupper his big move.

“He was sold to Wolverhampton for three million euros, but if he is injured during the games he will play in Norway, he will not be offered a contract,” said De Koning.

“Therefore, he will play under a great risk. I think that everyone understands that Björn is in a very difficult situation.”

Mackay has already missed out on two strike targets this summer.

Burnley’s Jay Rodriguez opted for Premier League football at Southampton despite a bid from the Bluebirds and Fleetwood marksman Jamie Vardy joined Championship rivals Leicester.

The Foxes and Bluebirds are both also reportedly rivals again to sign former Dundee United defender Paul Dixon.

The 25-year-old left-back is a free agent after leaving The Terrors at the end of last season after his contract expired.

Dixon made 145 appearances for the club in a four-year spell after signing from city rivals Dundee in 2008.

Anybody else think that this may just be Sigurdarson's agent trying to get his player a better offer?

To be honest I would be more comfitable if we spent that kind of money on a player used to the Premier League or Championship

Too much of a gamble anyway in my opinion.

Must be more proven players available for that amount of money :ayatollah: :ayatollah:
