How long till we lose him to someone else? Any takers?

If we lose him to Burnley we know we're in trouble.

Do we need another defender??
Or does that mean Turner is going??
Hope not!

More likely Keinan and Gerrard I'd have thought

Paul Dixon and Shackell id take them 2 defenders then move on to midfield and strikers.

Maybe he's given up on Keogh ?? its around the same price so would make sense.
If Keinan and Gerrard are both leaving I was going to be expecting someone a bit more versatile like Keogh than Shackell though but he's a good defender imo.

If my memory serves me correctly, he left Barnsley on a free transfer last summer before moving to Derby where he was made captain (again, correct me if I'm wrong). Good player.

Seems like Malky played with him at Norwich, didn't work out for him at Wolves when they were in the Championship.

To be honest bearing in mind this so-called war chest which MM has got why would he look at this guy. Seems to me as an average Championship player IMO

Considering hes a defender and we got a strong defence its not bad. Hope he raises the level and brings in a championship target man good at this level. Wish we could have Bothroyd back also midfield.

He went to Derby from Barnsley for £1million. It was no surprise since he left Barnsley there defence has gotten worse, and Derby's has got slightly better (they still occasionally leak goals like a sieve). Rather we sign a midfielder or a striker first but at this moment in time i'd be happy if we just sign someone. Shackell is a good championship player. When we signed Turner everyone seemed a bit 'iffy' about him, but look how good he has become. Hopefully shackell could be the same.

Malkys gonna bore the arse of us with all these defenders

Shackell is a decnt defender at this level.
I wouldn't say he'll get in the side before Hudson and Turner, but he'd be excellent cover.
Would suggest to me Gerrard is off.

Not at all.
Centre halfs are the most likely players to get injured or suspended.
Can you not remember us having to play McNaughton and Keinan in the play offs v Reading ? Fecking great job they did too
One lesson from last season is that over 46 games plus cups its about the strength of the SQUAD not just the first xI.
Of course we need forwards and midfielders, but we should not miss the options to strengthen in ALL areas.
