A forum for all things Cardiff City
Fri Jun 15, 2012 9:49 pm
As a club, this summer we are excited to be able to begin work that showcases Cardiff City Stadium as our true home, a real football stadium for next season and beyond that all supporters can appreciate and enjoy. We are glad to be able to finally and distinctively brand our stadium that celebrates of our history, embraces the present and also looks forward to the future.
In order to best facilitate this, in coming weeks the club will initiate a fan consultation process from which a working group of supporters and club representatives will be formed, looking at key areas of future brand development.
Included in this process will be dialogue on:
1. Historical stadium branding
2. Future club crest development
3. Future club kit development
4. Enhancing supporter areas
5. Discussing potential match day events
6. Improving match day atmosphere
During this process ideas and opinions will be canvassed from a wide range of supporters via an extensive online survey, using our existing database. This will include both season ticket holders and non season ticket holders from all areas of the stadium. Discussions on kit and crest developments will be based on existing parameters.
From this survey, working group delegates will be randomly selected from those who would like to constructively and openly talk about each area in depth with club officials. We will also be contacting the Cardiff City Supporters Club and the Supporters Trust concerning the delegates they would like to attend.
The findings of the online survey will then be discussed in length at the initial meeting, helping us to map the way forward. The club can then work on these areas with a view to presenting progress via a second session. Then, after positive plans have been established and agreed, a shortlist of options can then be broadcast and ultimately decided by supporters at appropriate times for each area.
We appreciate that opinions on all matters, including the development of a potential future crest and the kit can be subjective, but by taking the wider view as our base of decision making and by holding an open dialogue we feel that the best results can be delivered.
As a club we want to continue working closely with supporters, a practice that has among other things influenced the UK's most successful football family area and also contributed to progress made in the Canton Stand. This process will help to recognise our past while strengthening our future.
Further details will follow next week on this site.

point 6 the blue army will do this
Fri Jun 15, 2012 10:00 pm
Thats very fair and a great plan.
Fri Jun 15, 2012 10:15 pm
Good news but why didnt they do something like this before rebranding are club themselves. To little to late but at least there is scope for some changes which is very good news just hope the fans chosen are a goo viriaty of fans each with there own separate opinions.
As much as I appreciate the so called fans representatives I do think this system as unfair and doesnt represent the broader spectrum of fans.
First job is to change that very bad badge and make it more us.
Fri Jun 15, 2012 10:16 pm
It's a start at least. Recent PR hasbeen a disaster.
Fri Jun 15, 2012 10:16 pm
Can't argue with any of that, but its a bit late, to say the least. Pity they did not think of this before driving a bulldozer through our traditions. Better late than never, I suppose. Take it with a pinch of salt, though.

Part of the club`s obligation under UEFA rukes adopted by the League to have a supporters liaison officer in place before the start of next season?

The club are clearly recognising that mistakes have been made and if it hadn't been for the whistleblower, we'd know exactly how they were going to promote the rebrand!
They've listened to the outcry about the loss of the Bluebird and incorporated it onto the new badge!
They now appear to be bending over backwards to involve us fans, in umpteen important future making decisions and I cannot think of any other club that is / has ever attempted to involve fans in such a way!
Whatever mistakes have been made in the rebranding process, I think it's time to give credit where it is due, for the club's attempts to build bridges, move on and see where it'll take us!

Why wasn't this done before the "Re-Branding Process"... if the badge is changed for the 2013-2014 season, it'll be in 5 years, Cardiff City Football Club has had 5 different badges/logo's... 6 if you count the Ninian Park - End of an Era Crest.
The fans up to this point have felt unwanted up to this point, and the club/board have pushed many fans away and divided them into "For & Against" groups.
This announcement in my opinion is great news, but a few months too late. Come on CCFC, we're meant to be an established football club here.

The rights or wrongs of this not being done sooner should now be confined to the dustbin of history,i for one welcome this as a first step of many steps on a long journey to get City to the Premiership, and i fully intend to give this rebirth every chance to succeed, with that in mind Malky will no longer come in for criticism from me,the Blue Brigade will have my full respect, with no more name calling,i fully suspect i will be bored rigid having to be a good boy,but hey such a very small price to pay for success, and finally i will take my own advice, and keep my powder dry
Fri Jun 15, 2012 11:46 pm
This is good news. A bit late but a step in the right direction. Cue the ultra negative comments..........
Actually that quarter is unusually quite this evening.
Fri Jun 15, 2012 11:51 pm
How exactly are they going to select fans to take part in this discussion process needs to be good cross section of supporters including 'ordinary' fans
Fri Jun 15, 2012 11:53 pm
The true blue 7 , scruffys right you need to get in there pal, sharpish. agree with earlier post about the chosen few (no disrespect) having quite a big sway within the inner circle. We need more every day fans having a say i reckon. sometimes i feel like im reading animal farm on ere.
Fri Jun 15, 2012 11:57 pm
This is a good idea, I like it. Who will decide who is chosen then? Cos I dont think it should be all the Usual Suspects that get their say, meaning the likes of Annis, Gwyn, Vince, Corkery, Carl etc... Let somebody else have a go.

While I accept its a step in the right direction, firstly why wasn't this done before the re-branding and for once I would like the club or individuals to come out and say 'sorry'. It can't be that hard can it..?
I feel this may have alot to do with the volume of season ticket refund requests more than anything else unfortunately

Personally, I believe that the club have bent over backwards to try and appease fans since the rebrand was leaked and if you read TG's statement of 10/05/2012 (
http://www.cardiffcityfc.co.uk/page/New ... 29,00.html), VT's statement of 14/06/2012 (
http://www.cardiffcityfc.co.uk/page/New ... 34,00.html) and the club's new statement, then I believe that they've done enough atm, to warrant a little bit of leeway and trust!

Agree........for all the shit which has gone on over the last few weeks, and continues, all fans should sign up to the supporters club/trust......or any other supporter representive group to ensure we stick together for voices to be heard and for those voices to be those you want to be voiced in your representation. BLUEBIRDS!!

Whatabout the fact that they knew about it even before the season finished..? I'm sorry but many of the board members knew excatly what the reaction would be like but didn't give a shit. However we are were we are and I think that a statement contining the word 'sorry' would go even further

This I completely agree with. After being a vociferous opponent of the rebranding and the complete lack of consultation before these recent decisions were made I applaud this initiative. The great sadness in all this is that so many fans had been disenfranchised and the the history of the Club thrown aside (ie the blue shirts and the bluebird). Had this consultation been completed BEFORE the recent announcement many of the problems would probably been lessened. I am just pleased that the stance of the pro-blue camp has caused this rethink by the Malaysians. Have they been taken aback by the opposition? Almost certainly. Am I pleased of my constant opposition? No. I'm just sad it came to that. But in light of this posting on the Official site I thank them for acknowledging that the content of this rebranding and the need for fan consultation was lacking. Now the importance of our heritage and what it means to City fans can be conveyed to our owners in a coherent manner and I trust accepted by our owners.

I still think that the leaking caused more harm than good......it would have been far better to have this business plan presented to us in the clubs time, instead we all got very emotional and believed a lot of bullshit that was hitting us from all directions.
Other fans, trolls.....etc etc.
Sat Jun 16, 2012 8:57 am
We continue to work with fans. Bit late now.

I would like to see some of our younger fans being representatives as well and some females to give a fair representation of the stands.
