Wales Vs Scotland World Cup Qualifer 12th October

Fri Jun 15, 2012 10:09 am

What venue is it likely to be held in? Attendances for Wales games are rising slightly now, and we're up to 38th in the world. Plus it's Scotland who will likely bring a few thousand down.
I'd imagine it would be in the Millennium because there is potential for a 35-40,000 crowd there IMO

Going to be a tough one this, my boy is born and bred Welsh so I guess we'll be in with the Welsh fans! I'm going to be sitting very quietly during this match! I would imagine the Millennium stadium would be the best venue.

Best stay off this board around that game, a Scottish Swansea city fan...

Highly doubt it would be the Millenium, I would think it'll be at the CCS like last time (great game).

If Wales and Scotland get a decent start, the attendance could be over the 50,000 mark. The Welsh FA would be mad to let that money go?

You're dreaming if you think they'll be 50,000.

Good point. A full CCS can produce a much better atmosphere than a less than half full Millstad (remember that Boznia game a few years back, dreadful)

I think if Wales can get at least 4 points from Belgium and Serbia in the opening 2 matches there will be a good crowd. Or maybe the FAW should open a survey or something similar asking fans of all Welsh/Scottish clubs who will likely be attending. Say 25,000 say they would go in the survey you could then include those who didn't take they survey or decide last minute. Millstad would be a good option

I agree that the Millenium would be brilliant if it were possible. However, the last time I went to Wales V Scotland (I think it was 2009) it was the very first international to be played at the newly-opened CCS, which would surely bring in the crowds considering it was just £5. How many turned up? A dismal 13,000.

Considering you need over 50,000 to generate any kind of atmosphere in the Millenium, I'm not expecting it to be held there unless there is great demand.

20/25,000 in the CCS? Much better in my opinion.

If Wales get a couple of wins in their first 2 games, there will be huge demand for this match. Plus Scotland will bring a big following if they can win their first two games which are at home. All ifs and buts, but don't forget, the last couple of games have been friendlies, this is the World Cup.

I personally think that it is between Scotland and Wales for second place in this group, if not better. On that basis, I'll respectfully disagree, I don't think the CCS will meet the demand.

Wasn't that a friendly though when we were absolutely shite? Hardly anybody watched us then

Do you not think that is slightly optmistic? Considering Croatia, Belgium and possibly Serbia are all superior sides. I'f love to think that Wales stood a chance of second place however it's unlikely, although I'll be attending every game.

I hope you're right, it would be brilliant in the Millenium. However a life of supporting Wales had taught me to be realistic about such things! Fingers crossed though.

Well it was Rambo's first game as captain, and we had Bellamy and Bale I recall so there was reason enough to attend. Either way it was a resounding 3-0 win which would be difficult to emulate. After that performance against Mexico, I fear Coleman will slowly undo all Gary Speed's work, although I sincerely hope not as we were peaking at the right time.

 I'm always blindly optimistic when it comes to Scotland. Honestly though, Croatia are the clear favourites and then I genuinely think Wales and Scotland can be challenging for second place.

Let's hope for a decent qualifying campaign (something I have never experienced! ) The Scots are always good when it comes to fans, last time out I was sat on the train next to two giants with bagpipes

I'm somewhat confident ahead of the qualifiers. IMO Macedonia and Scotland should give us at least 9 points. Belgium are beatable, as are Serbia. So I think between them we can get at least 6 points. Then Croatia are the tough ones, try and get a point off them and we can get around 16/17 points. That's 2nd place contender material. If Speedo didn't kill himself then I would be even more confident. Coleman doesn't impress me

I'd expect 10-15,000 to come down for this one.

Should be a good weekend if you can steer clear of the kilt wearing tartan wanks :D

Times have changed mate. Our support is more like a rugby crowd now. Lots of lawyers and teachers wearing kilts, wigs and stupid hats. I was at the game in 1985. Fight on the Bob Bank lasted ages.Totally different now unless we played England in the future. :ayatollah:
