Anyone still unsure what to do

Mon Jun 11, 2012 8:24 pm

I feel the 50 or so people who returned their season tickets are doing the right thing. I know there are many more who want too, but just can't let go. I'm in that camp, I want to tell the Malaysians to shove their franchise bollocks, but just can't imagine life without CCFC.

I know I could watch Merthyr week in week out, but it just won't be the same buzz. I hate them Malaysians for putting us in this situation. Wouldn't wish this on any club.

Completely agree.
Torn between not going again until or if the rebrand is reversed, only going to away games, or picking and choosing games more.
If I do make games I'll be wearing blue (something I rarely did before).
Whatever happens if the rebrand carries on, I won't feel the same when going to games and the kindred I felt with other Cardiff fans has diminished.
I was planning to move back to Cardiff and one of the positives was being able to go to more home games, after this, that is far less appealing.
Unlike some on here, I'm not looking forward to next season at all.
Being relegated would of been a pleasure compared to this shit.

If we didnt have the malaysians bailing us out then we'd end up in the same league as Merthyr so the choice is yours!!!!

Do what ever feels right, if you can't support Cardiff city in red then you have little choice sadly.

Final nail in the coffin for me the CCFC I fell in love with has finally gone.

Bit by bit, year by year, its not been the same but Franchise FC isnt for me.

Fish, I was thinking the same a week or so ago. But after all the years of following Cardiff City I cannot leave the club. I'm absolutely gutted they are "re-branding" the club but i can't let go. I would be lost without the City and they've been there since i was a little sh*t.
It's going to be wierd down there next season and will take some getting used to. I won't be driven out of this club because of the Malaysians wanting their way.
Don't refund your ST, stick with us Blue boys. Too many years to throw away.

I don't know what to do. Fortunately several reasons (school, football, costs etc) stopped me getting a season ticket. I'll probably go to 8-9 league games this season, as well as cup games. But I will be wearing blue singing blue songs and won't even buy a programme any more.

Also remember - the Malaysia's saved your beloved club year before last from extinction through debt and winding up orders so-that you could carry on attending last year to the club you love.

Now they are asking you to trust them once again and are hoping for your continued support.

:ayatollah: :ayatollah: I agree.

I would also plead with any fans who are thinking of giving up their season tickets to not do it for at least another year (and even though I disagree with them, I respect their strength of feeling to even consider doing such a thing, which would obviously hurt themselves so much).

If they still feel the same after this season, then fair enough, but give it one year to see how you find it, and then make a decision after the first year in red.

In my eyes, they saved the club and then stripped us of it. Each to their own.

I don't know what to do either. Won't ask for a refund on my ST, because other family members can go. Will call in next week to renew my parking pass. They can use that too. So the club won't lose out! But simply can't imagine watching CCFC play in red at home. Away, no problem. And that badge, it's so bad, that in 50 years time it will probably be a cult, retro classic.

The most depressing thing of all is the language being used. Not swearing, but 'embracing change', 'investment packages', 'marketing opportunities'. And the crude implication that it is red or no club. Are we talking about Cardiff City, or a call centre? A football club, or a new hotel opening up in town, or the docks (sorry Bay).

44 years after seing my first City game, this is sickening. And all so unnessessary. But its happened, and its not going to change.

Perhaps blokes like me are not the future of football, certainly not of Cardiff City. And I know, we won't be missed. No real need to post that fact, unless it somehow makes you feel better.

Unsettling times!

I think you should hand your STs back, definitely. That'll help you kill the club quicker than the Maysians, good plan.

There's only one worse feeling than all this - the thought of CCFC (in whatever form) being left in the hands of a bunch of gutless johnny come latelys with a few glory whore fans mixed in. That's why the real fans must stick around, at least for now. If not, then the revisionism will be complete before October.

Exactly the Club announced that the Malaysians were never going to pull out anyway. So can you please stop spouting that myth

I still don't know what to do either next year, haven't renewed my season ticket anyway as I'm off to university hopefully but not sure whether to stay away or if I'll just be biting my nose off to spite my face. I will never buy anything red or with the beer mat on mind!

Malky Mackay Towing The 'Red' Party Line

After several days silence from the club to follow last weeks controversial bombshell, Cardiff City manager Malky Mackay has released a statement urging supporters to back the changes and trust the Malaysian backers.

It is evident that the club opted to push ahead with the proposals following positive feedback from fans, those content to accept the changes given the longstanding financial uncertainties and the various commercial and financial opportunities the 're-brand` would offer. It is also clear that Vincent Tan and TG would have been under no illusions that there would again be vociferous opposition so it was no surprise that they have remained silent thus far with Chief Executive Alan Whitely responsible for the few comments issued by CCFC.

Now, with most opinions having been shared by fans in the media, online and around South Wales, Malky Mackay has lent his public support to the plans and will be looking to add his weight and significant support within City`s followers to maintain the fanbase and focus attention back onto building for the future.

Mackay stated:

"I would just ask them [the supporters] to keep supporting us. Support the team and your club. Right now you have people within the club who care deeply about it. The staff I mingle with every day, the chief executive, the board and the office staff, all support and care deeply about the club."

"The Malaysian backers have shown evidence they support this club and not just for the short term. They are putting long term plans in place and that is not the case at every football club. You don`t always get people who have the best interests of the club at heart."

"It`s understandable how some people feel, but please back your team on the pitch and back me as a manager. I need your support. We are trying to do our best I promise that."

There was always going to be an initial outcry. There are those who have pledged to cut all ties with the club, until our previous identity is restored, or a least a more palatable compromise could be found. Whilst that is a shame, the thinking will surely be that for every fan lost - more will be gained through the awareness and success the club are hoping to achieve both in the short and long terms. It is, though, incredibly sad that long-term and devoted supporters feel so alienated from their club. I`m sure the club would say that those supporters will always be welcomed back however. In reality, it`s not those fans that Malky`s comments are direct towards. In fact, it`s those unsure over their position but likely to return - those fans are asked to 'keep the faith` (as we seem to be every few months!!!) and support the club, the team and the manager while the behind-the-scenes figures work their magic and hopefully present a much more stable and powerful Cardiff City Football Club.

While Malky`s comments are welcome, understandable and likely to help convince some of the un-decided - it`s the new signings we desperately needed over the course of the last year that will provided the morale boost, expectation and renewed hope I suspect the club are looking for.
