This Is What I Want To Know

Does VT and TG actually want us to succeed or is he using us as a business?
Are we his main priority as he seems to be building a the worlds biggest shopping mall (I think) in China, Has made a website called Friendster and a big corporation and there's much more including McDonalds!

So are we his main priority? What are we to him?

For him it is a labour of love right now – a labour of love for something 5,000 to 6,000 miles away that he never had any affinity for before.

This is not a Terry Matthews situation where he is putting something back into the place he was were born. Vincent Tan has no discernible connection to this part of the world. Yet he has ended up in a position whereby he is an investor and now has an affinity with the club.

It would be nice if people just balanced that with some of the vitriol that comes with the changes and just looked at it and said ‘Well this guy has not taken anything out’.

This is not a situation where there are allegations of asset stripping and not a situation where the club has been loaded with debt which is difficult to service. He hasn’t done any of that.

Is there a single owner in the English Football pyramid that has made any money out of owning a football club?

The Man United owners usually make a mint.

YES!
obscene amounts of money are made.
Say a club is worth 100m and has no debts. You put down 20m and the bank pays the rest.
Then you place 85m of debt on the club. Then have it as money owed to another company, say an offshore one that you own.

Make up a big interest rate and keep paying the interest. Result? You have a tax free income as much as you want.
Pretty soon you've got your investment of 20m back. And you've got huge amounts of gate money, sponsorship, player sales, TV money, ripoff merchandise.

Fans are oblivous cos they think the 80m debts( growing to 100, 120 m etc) are from buying players.
Ofcoruse the fans are duped, and end up spending more, while you leech out more and more, as long as you want.

You can do even more scams with overcharging for a new stadium and stuff.

The facts are well know.Best examples were Hicks Liverpool and the Glazers Man Utd.

By effectively placing the club in large debts which is (apparently) not what VT is doing.

In 2007 H&G bought LFC for £218.9m ( http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/footbal ... 323037.stm )

Then sold it for £300m in 2010 ( http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/footbal ... 094283.stm )

So 3 years and 7 months

While making a loss of£49.4 million in their last year alone. ( http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17945252 )

So that's £100million ish they had to pay in bills over the course of their reign. I doubt overall they made much if any money.
