Cardiff City Still In Hunt For Bjorn Bergman Sigurdarson!

Tue Jun 05, 2012 12:27 am

Cardiff City are said to be among a number of clubs continuing to track Lillestrom’s Icelandic striker Bjorn Bergman Sigurdarson.

Torgeir Bjarmann, director of football for the Norwegian club, confirmed yesterday that Cardiff and Wolves are among those who have been watching Sigurdarson.

TV 2, the largest commercial television station in Norway, spoke to Bjarmann before he flew out on holiday and he revealed there is interest in the £3m-rated Sigurdarson from the Bluebirds.

He said Cardiff City, who already have Icelandic midfielder Aron Gunnarsson in their squad, are in the hunt for the 21-year-old.

So, too, Wolves, who recently appointed the Norwegian Stale Solbakken as their manager.

It is understood that Celtic, Ipswich, Everton and Reading have also been tracking the talented centre-forward.

“We have received specific requests for Bjorn,” said Bergman.

Sigurdarson played for his hometown team IA Akranes for three years before agreeing a three-year deal at Lillestrom in 2009.

He has represented Iceland at under-17, under-19 and under-21 levels and won one cap at senior level.

Why are we looking to pay £3m odd then if he signed a 3yr deal in 2009 unless there is any current contract extensions in play he should surely be available on a free?
