Citizens Advice

Mon Jun 04, 2012 7:37 pm

Bought two rabbits for my girls yday afternoon from a breeder in Ponty.

They were going nuts all night and it was evident this was not a good decision.

Took them back they said we dont do refunds. Thought f**k it rather lose 60 quid than keep something that was gonna be a hinderance.

However now ive had chance to think about it. Was that actually legal?

To make things worse I bought them an ipod touch to cheer them up so the whole sorry episode has cost me 210 quid so Im thinking about playing f**k for my 60 back.

Re: Citizens Advice

a repidable breeder should take the animals back.... if they have received the animals back after just 24hrs then surely they should refund you as they will re sell them again...

id research it a bit further mate, its the principle now.

Why did you buy them an ipod to cheer them up? Jeez. Should've just forced them to come to terms with no rabbits.

I want advice on the sale and return of the rabbits not some pompous little tw*t questioning my decision to buy my kids a different gift.

Under consumer law you can always reject the goods but I am not sure that citing that the rabbits were "going nuts" would qualify as an adequate excuse. If the rabbits were fighting and injuring each other then you would certainly have a case.:ayatollah:

She took the rabbits back im just a bit pissed off after less than 24 hours she wouldnt give the money back.

She probably gave you 2 Bucks or a Buck & Doe which do not get on, either fighting all night (2 Bucks) or the Buck was trying to smash the Doe's back doors in all night

Should have asked for 2 Doe's who would have got on very peace full :ayatollah:

They must have been nice rabbits for 30 quid each. I am assuming they must have been some specialist breed?

Dwarfs or Lops Rabbitts or some bollox. My missus told me they were the size of coke cans and wouldnt grow so I said get them one each.

They got home and were the size of a 3 litre Coke bottle and were only 8 weeks old.

Ah,if she took them back you may have a case-the least she could do if offer a credit note to the value of the goods.A phone call to trading standards wouldn't go amiss, they're pretty good with advice and will sometimes intervene on your behalf,or at least they did when I last contacted them.Company policy never supercedes the law though many try

Polo, the problem I think you've got is that even if you do have the right to the refund, unless the seller is prepared to pay you, the only way you could enforce it is by taking legal action, which would cost you even more.

I think you may have such a right, but to enforce it could mean outlaying even more money.

I'd try again to reason with the seller to see if they will give you the money back, but by the sound of it, that may not be successful.

Sorry, if that's not what you wanted to hear.

To be honest on reflection I am glad to see the back of them. An expensive lesson to learn but hey hoy.
